The recital.

We are invited to an evening inaugural recital. It is, the invitation says , a ' joyful and uplifting paean of praise to the continuity of life in a time of great political change'. 'The Font' tells the organizers we'd love to attend. Everyone is  suitably dressed for the occasion. Being a university town men wear tweed jackets and womenfolk , more sensibly considering the heat, floral cotton numbers. There are a surprising number of clerics in rumpled linen suits and dog collars. A few seats have been set out but it's uncertain who they're meant for so we stand. Refreshments are Scotch, white wine or 'something soft'. 'The Font' opts for 'something soft' . After two sips this is quietly left on a side table.  Neither of us can pinpoint what it might be although 'The Font' thinks it might be elderflower mixed with cream soda. Angus will usually drink anything but the white wine is 'challenging'. It has an astringency that could clean the rust off the chrome on the Volvo. It too is quietly left on a side table. Electric organ, maracas and violin make for an unusual musical combination.

Strawberry season is upon us. We stop off at the chalet by the roundabout and pick up a couple of punnets. A kilo costs us £4 which seems good value. They are delicious.

The Chariots of Fire beach race was well attended  :https://www.facebook.com/people/West-Sands-Ranger-Service/100087381403469/

We try a bottle of Oregon wine with dinner. Oregon wines seem much better value than almost anything else from the Americas :https://www.wine.com/product/sokol-blosser-dundee-hills-estate-pinot-noir-2019/881140#closePromoModal

That is a great value on strawberries, about half what I paid on Saturday.

The recital was held in such a lovely and soothing room. The chairs however looked somewhat uncomfortable and my hope is that the event did not stretch into hours. Such a beautiful stretch of beach on a warm spring day and a wonderful turnout for the event. We've never much considered purchasing wines from Oregon in the far past but will do so now upon your good review.

You're so fortunate to have delicious strawberries available. It seems ages since we've had any.

Pinot noir from the Wllamette Valley in Oregon is my favorite!

The strawberries seem especially plentiful and delicious this year. I spent $4.99 USD for two pounds a few weeks ago on special sale at grocers. The Pinot Noir sounds delicious. What are you having with it?

Good day for a race on the sand - so many competitors, too.

I love Oregon wines but they're hard to get in the UK as they don't export much. Always have them if I'm in the US and they're on a wine list.
