Grin when you win and laugh when you lose.

The local garden centre has started stocking a new line of patio ornaments. Plastic purple and green calves and lambs. The biggest two feet high. Quite gruesome. What's the betting they fly off the shelves ?

The PON's spend their day at the garden gate barking at pilgrims. Some pilgrims ignore them. Others make coochie-coo noises at them. All, irrespective of rank or nationality, are made aware that they are being watched.

A week ago the newly planted roses and lavenders were under water. Now they're being baked into the clay by the sun. The irrigation system is turned on. Or rather the switch is flipped but nothing happens. The irrigation system at the Rickety Old Farmhouse is a peculiarly French affair. A logic defying mass of pipes that lead from the well to a strange, bomb shaped, device in the sub basement. Sometimes a tap with a hammer or a wrench does the trick. Today it doesn't. The electrician promises to come tomorrow. Bob follows me into the gloom of the basement to lend a hand. Sophie, prudently, waits at the top of the stairs, supervising.

We thought they might be lamb pinatas!

Looks like Spring may be bringing more morose young men to the Rickety Old Farmhouse.

The sheep and calves are very scary, purple and green, why?

All work in the house and garden needs a supervising dog, just isn't right otherwise.

Here's hoping the electrician really shows up tomorrow! Good luck!

I predict you'll be seeing colorful farm animals all over the countryside!

Those garden ornaments are truly gruesome....I couldn't have said it better myself.
Brownie would have barked at them to announce his displeasure.
I'm not interested in the betting pool for the fast sale of the ornaments, but I'm in the pool for how long it takes the electrician to arrive at the ROF.

Smart girl, that Sophie. Aren't sub-basements where the monsters hide in horror movies?

I was afraid you were going to say those green lamb things were somehow edible, or so construed.

Those silly lambs seem to be smiling, ignoring the fact that they are such a hideous and totally inappropriate green! Please send half a dozen for our backyard!!!

They look like a canine version of American Gothic in that first photo. Adorable.

They may be well received at Wimbledon.

Having had irrigation systems in most of my homes, I've never seen anything like it! The blue "thing" , does it boost water pressure or cook
roast? Looks like something prone to
explosion.

I kind of like the lurid green lamb, but sadly don't think it would fit (aesthetically rather than physically) in our courtyard. It reminds me of the glowing sheep, slightly reminiscent of a nuclear disaster, that were gathered round the Nativity scene at the Brussels Christmas Market, one year. One renegade sheep had made it onto the balcony of the Town Hall.
