A trip to the fishmongers for some Loup de Mer. For Bob and Sophie it gets better. At our next stop the cheese lady offers both PON's a tiny sliver of Pont l'Éveque. Bob is so overcome with joy he does his soft shoe shuffle dance. Paws go in different directions , legs move up and down, the tail waves wildly, the furry head waves from side to side. He displays his overbite. When we first saw this routine we thought he was having a seizure. Now we know this is what happens when you try to squeeze a quart of joy into a PON sized body. '' My oh my ! He's a happy boy " says the fish lady. We finally stop of at the bakers where we buy two slices of blue cake. Bob's tail is still waving.
What a difference twenty five years makes. Here are two videos of Scotlands unofficial national anthem. The first showing how it was played in 1990. Then it had a somewhat louche beat to it. The sort of light, waltzy, thing a slightly inebriated Italian waiter might sing on a quiet night in a cafe on the Amalfi coast. You can hear it here.

The psychology of music. Just another of those little observations that hints at changes underway.

Perhaps it might settle into something a little more relaxed in time, when all is decided.
Blue cake. Blueberries?
I wonder if PONs attend the same dance class?
I am still trying to capture Merlins enormous grin when he hasn't seen us for 10 minutes or more.

It looks as though the boys still have their same barbers. I am unable to hear these things, but I do love to look at the people.
How was the Blue Cake? Looked like some kind of seaside business to me, but I would have tried it too.
Jo
Our computer wouldn't play either anthem...maybe is British.
Hmmmmmmm, think we'll have clam chowder for dinner....
XXXOOO Bella & Roxy
No-one could think of 'God Save the Queen' (surely the British not the English national anthem) as anything but a dirge. But neither of the two anthems in the video can compete with the Welsh anthem as sung at Cardiff. Cheers, Gail. PS Two YES poster up on our very 'mixed race' street in Aberdeen as of yesterday.
I am suitably corrected about THE national anthem.
Cheese? Did I read somefin bout cheese? OMD, y'all are lucky, I luv cheese.
I wish you could post a video of Bob's dance, it sounds a sight to behold
The blue cake was surprisingly light. Some sort of meringue. Why it was blue remains a mystery.
You should live in France. Cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner over here !
A video of Bob and his soft shoe shuffle would require a health warning.
Although you have described Bob's dance, I too would love to see a video of Bob's soft shoe shuffle dance.
My Brownie does a dance like that as he is awaiting a tasty morsel, and it's quite fun to watch...I must catch it on video one of these days.
Pray tell, what is the blue cake made from?
I am laughing out loud picturing Bob doing his soft shoe shuffle. You have entertainment almost 24/7. Where was sister?
Giving him that '' my brothers an oaf " look.
That is quite the blue on the cake. I hope it was good?!
Blue cakes, pastries , etc always appeal to me. Something mysterious about blue.
I truly admire Bob's capacity for joy,
his sheer delight with simple things. I'd so love to feel that myself. Although as a lady of a certain age, I
feel it best to forgo the dance.
