The Haunted House.
The PONs leap into the back of the car. Bob has started to get wise to the fact that if he puts his carrot down it disappears. This morning he's determined to hold onto it.
Sophie continues to be a keen 'recycler'. We've tried everything including pineapple in her kibble. All to no avail. The timorous wee thing of three years ago has turned into the sort of girl who'd kill for a rice cake. We've now moved onto Copronat. Three days in and so far it is having exactly zero effect.
Lamb on a rope has been recovered from its special place in the laurel hedge. Sophie settles down with it for a long conversation in the warmth of the sun. Bob wisely keeps his distance.
The circus has come to town. This morning it's eerily deserted. Bob christens the dodgems and then the Hall of Mirrors before finishing off with a flourish at the Haunted House .
Sophie wanders into the office for a chat. Bob will accept tickles at any time of the day. Sophie lets you know when SHE's ready for attention. I can't help but notice the family princess has large patches of dried mud around her nose. It would seem lamb on a rope has been reburied.
Serious men in dark suits phone from New York. '' Sorry to bother you at home on Presidents Day " says the most senior. Angus has no idea what Presidents Day is. Sophie turns on her back, squirms wildly, then falls asleep and snores. If only the men in dark suits knew.

No really Angus, us dogs do not appreciate being disturbed on Presidents Day.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
The picture of Bob with the carrot is priceless.
Presidents Day was a bit of a surprise here as well
Presidents Day? Ours don't seem to be bothered about being disturbed, but a biscuit is always a compensation...
Good for Bob, we're so glad he's finally figured out the carrot routine !
Re Sophie and her re-cycling - one of our Labs had the same "predilection" too, and I read that they do it because they like it... I'm afraid we never did find a solution.
Nothing like a bit of doggy groundedness to keep your life in check.
Who needs men in dark suits when there's free tickles in the offing!
Our darling Karma is still on her rampage of "recycling" as well. We are hoping its just the fact that living in the frozen north these seem like irresistible temptations. Once the thaw happens perhaps so will the delight. Fingers crossed.
We know she's a gorgeous girl, but with her hair over her eyes, Sophie somehow always manages to look guilty. Do you think that's because she usually is?
Sophie does appear to be having a tête-à-tête with Lamb on a rope.
LOLing at your men in dark suits comment. You may have read it long since, but I recommended "Adam Smith", Supermoney (1972). Especially the section called "The day the music almost died," on banks.
Glad everyone got their usual ear-scritches.
Sadly, I think many folks here don't have a clue about President's Day either -- except that it marks a long weekend and no mail service, Once upon a time -- yes I'm showing my age -- we actually celebrated Abraham Lincoln's birthday on the 12th of February and George Washington's on the 22nd.
Thank you. I now understand where it's come from !

Here's the link for the PON judging at Westminster. For some reason all the dogs seem to be missing something: that endearing bit of mud on the nose and paws. Also that windswept look we all love!!!

It was nice that the dark suits apologized for calling you at home on Presidents' Day. You could have faked it just a bit for effect.
Did you manage to see the Westminster PONs.
My birthday is the day before George Washington's. When I was a young person, I looked forward to Lincoln's birthday, because I knew mine would be soon! We too celebrated Lincoln and Washington's birthday's in school. Then their days were combined, and became known as President's Day. Some corporations recognize the Day and others don't, making it confusing! However, this year, I have heard more about President's Day than in many years. It could be because of the political events here in the US.
Thank you. The Westminster PONs have coats that have never been near mud or unmentionable things in ditches !
Good luck !
Yes.
Was surprised a large NY investment bank would consider it a holiday.
