Suddenly.

A quiet Sunday morning. The only sounds the bees working in the wisteria over the front door and the frogs in the village pond. Bob decides to add a throaty good morning woof to the mix. No church organ could match the enthusiastic joyfulness of a PON boys Sunday start the day woof. Sophie's tail wags twenty to the dozen.

The Old Farmer wanders across the lane to tell us that he's driving to Avignon for four or five days. It's the tenth anniversary of the accident that killed his wife, youngest daughter and German Shepherd. He's going back to the scene for the first time since it happened. He then intends to have an expensive meal and get drunk. We are getting to admire The Old Farmer and his attitude to life.

He tells us that wisteria flowers dusted in flour and fried are delicious.

At the bakers a difficult choice.

Some potatoes from the glum man in the beret .

In the greengrocers the first of the Crimean tomatoes.

This is the impractical colour of the carpets in the new car. Hard enough to keep clean if the driver or  passenger has dirty feet. Impossible if you are carrying PONs with perma-muddy paws and who knows what covered snouts. Dog owners cars don't age gracefully. They age suddenly.

No, Angus, dog cars don't age suddenly -they just look "lived" in !
We have a piece of carpet covering the floor and sides of our boot, and just take it out to vacuum every so often.

Wow - those tomatoes are fabulous.
I really don't think there is any car on the market that is totally PON Proof!

Those cakes look amazing, and I don't even like cake. You are right about the carpets, they should be darker - surely no one would keep them clean.

The Tomatoes! I'm so envious! If they're as delicious as they look...heaven!
A liner of some type will help keep the deck tidy but what possibly can be done to keep those light side walls clean? But the, It's a PON's world and we just live in it.

Hmmmm..... About the wisteria flowers dusted in flour and fried? Would that be the entire clump, a broken apart clump, or the flowerets?

The white fur shows up on dark, black/grey fur show up on the light. They win paws down. Our English Setter only sits on the back seat and yet to boot area is still furry.

Looking at the boot area again - there's almost enough room for a few games of "Throw the Furry Fox".

Many blessings on the Old Farmer and his journey. As for the bakers dilemma, perhaps one of each?

A few cans of Scotchgard Auto might help the car sides and mats...just a shame 3M hasn't invented a pet version yet to repel dirt and water off dogs BEFORE they get into their car or thier home!

I totally agree with everything you've said in this post, including a cars interior -- Our boy George (black lab) was put into the "dog free car" last week, and afterwards it looked like he'd been living in the back seat!
