Cuisine a l'Angus.

The Siberian cold front makes it to France profonde. Snow falls and a ferocious gale blows.

The PONs play as if they were puppies. They pounce on each other. Bob is a silent pouncer. Sophie isn't.

The family diva, oblivious to titanium knees, leaps like a lamb. Big brother learns to slide down the hill.  Repeating this over and over provides a full hour of fun.

On our morning walk we make it to the end of the ridge where the trees peter out. Beyond and the arctic wind screams across the donkey field with enough force to blow my hat off. The PONs would go further but their owner has other ideas. I tell Bob that Hope has left the White House but he's not interested.

Back at The Rickety Old Farmhouse dust sheets are put down to gather melting paw carried snow. Sophie turns on her back and snores like a trooper. I'd tell her this is unladylike but she's out for the count.

In Scotland eighteen inches of snow have fallen over night and '' A danger to life " travel warning issued . I tell the PONs that they will have to deal with cuisine a l'Angus for another 24, possibly 48, hours. The airport texts to say it's closed because the staff can't get there to open it up.

The ''wee house'' is beginning to get into shape. The pine banisters painted blue. Still no beds or sofas.

'A stopped clock, an Auden touch , showed quarter past seven'. A Scottish obituary written with lyrical kindness : http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/16045411._We___ve_put_his_ashes_in_the_sea_because_he___s_at_home_there_/

Wow, the wee house looks spectacular. The Font must be a genius at project management as well as interior decoration. So glad the PONs too are getting to enjoy some proper winter weather. Much less snow here in Aberdeen, surprisingly.
Cheers, Gail.
PS At risk of making the obvious comment, surely Hope left the White House over a year ago?

Yes that house looks amazing. You must hire the Font out for such work. I am with Bertie and Gail on Hope.

We think Bob and Sophie are channelling their inner Polish (Snow) DNA.

Hope has left the White House in more ways than one.
The wee house looks impressive. It will be rented in a flash.
I am surprised you don't turn to the amazing homemade dishes on offer in the traiteur section of the butcher's. Reheat and eat.
We had snow for a little while yesterday, but by noon it melted. The morning rang with whoops of joy from village children playing in the meager layer of white fluff. Tomorrow we are to get 14 Celsius.

Is there enough of the white stuff for the PON's to build a snowman !
The "wee house" looks very snug and inviting. Sad that 'The Font' has no bed to wait out the Arctic weather in comfort.
Cold but sunny day here - just waiting for snow to appear on the hills opposite...

I am so disappointed...I cannot get the link to work! (I always click on your links and always enjoy.)

And yes, Hope is gone. And has been gone for a year now.

Try the link again - it should work now. If not I'm afraid it's a cut and paste.

Amazing how productive you can be when stuck indoors for 3 days with a blizzard blowing outside.

The "wee house" is lovely - Is "the Font" sure about that thought of allowing young children?

A surprise about Hope Hicks - I think they need to put Sarah Sanders into her job. She has no problem lying for the President...

Stay warm and enjoy your day! Same weather coming for us on Friday.

I had to do a 'right click and open in new tab' to get to it. It was worth persevering - a fellow after my own heart.

Meanwhile, here at the Hutch, signficant snow lies outside and temps are well low... YAMxx

The 'wee house' is looking very smart.
Merlin too has regressed to puppyhood in all this snow. Arthritis forgotten.

Nothing like snow to bring out the wild thing. Arthritis or is he seeing hip problems ( which are an issue with PONs ) ?

That article is so tender. The reminder of Auden with the stopped clock evokes so much feeling in just a few words. I love these glimpses of life in parts of Scotland. And the blue banister in the wee house will soon have its own tales to tell.

"silence the dog with a juicy bone"....One of my most favorite poems by Auden.

Yes indeed. Guess the Beast from the East is mild compared with February in the Canadian heartlands ?

Something so uncommercial but deeply right about his life. Perhaps even more surprising it's written about in a national newspaper in a way that reminds everyone of their grandparents. The peculiarities of small, out of the way, countries.

'The Font' is firmly of the opinion that a year spent abroad with toddlers should be magical. Or, if not magical, at least warm and comfortable.

Jake of Florida said...

Right now small out of the way countries are very appealing!

The wee house is charming.
Love the tartan rug!

Oh how I wish I could have watched Bob and Sophie playing in the snow! I would have loved also watching Bob sliding down the hill, and how he discovered doing it. The wee house will be stunning when The Font has finished selecting just the right items for the decor. It makes me happy now, with the cheerful colors!
