Vocalising.

V-E-T morning. Why did we ever arrange the PONs annual medical at 8:30 ?

Sophie is carefully groomed so she doesn't look as if she suffers from wilful neglect.

Within minutes of being groomed she a) digs up an old toy from the lavender border and b) liberates a plastic flower pot from the shed. Thought is given to rewashing her feet but it remains that - a thought. We'll have to settle for the wilful neglect look.

Attempts at grooming Bob fail. In fact they don't really get started.

Sophie has woken in one of her 'vocal' moods.

'' God help us all. It's going to be one of those days " says 'The Font' presciently.

Departure is delayed while the PONs search diligently for something invisible in the back of the car. This requires getting into and then out of the car - twice. The invisible thing will not be hurried.

It's sunny en route to the surgery. There will be a long walk after the angelic duo's annual check-up. A long walk will restore the spiritual balance of Bob and Sophie and their owners. There will also be slivers of croissant.

Here's some good news : https://twitter.com/AFP/status/969865025845374976

The diva knows that she does not need to look immaculate, she will adored, admired and fussed over by her surgeons and staff. Bob on the other hand instinctively knows that the V. E. T. is something to endure not enjoy. The sooner it is over the better.

It seems it is also something for the peeps to endure; probably why the 8:30 was booked - over sooner rather than think about it all day! Just focus on that long, soothing after-walk.

Here's to the discovery not bringing loss... YAM xx

Going to the vet is often the same as going to the dentist for us humans - to be over quickly and time to get on with the day.
By now you will probably on your second cups of restorative coffee, and Bob will be soothed by a sweet talking waitress and croissant slivers. Sophie, of course, will be making it quite clear that a diva needs more than half an hour's slavish devotion at the vet's!

We (Me, Golden and Pit/huskey mix) went to the vet this a.m. for the first appointment too! There was much canine discussion on who would take the back seat and who would take the rear area.....but a pick up of a canine bum and place it in a seat move by me finished all that. Since we had a surprise snow storm last evening, we were not sure that the roads would tolerate our travel to the vet. Once there though, our long-time vet examined, inoculated, and prescribed for each dog and pronounced that both were in excellent shape (one is 13 and the other is 7). We laughed at how each dog handles this visit differently....The golden thinks that each visit is a chance to be introduced to his new best friends and the pitt/husky mix treats the whole experience as part of the routine to get to his next meal and nap. Upon return home, a quick game of ball in the snow and now a snooze in the sun spots in the house. It makes me admire the canine perspective! Enjoy.....

Of course we've been there and done these same kinds of vet visits. For us, there's a bonus in having the vet come to the house to see part of our crew. Less drama - At least not drama where the public can see.

A long restorative walk after the Vet visit, does indeed calm everyone.

Very happy for all of you that Bob and Sophie’s yearly check ups are now a mere memory!
