Sophie glows.

As we head out of the front gate the sun suddenly pops up from behind the tree line. The shoots of wheat in the field facing us brushed with brilliant light. Something unusually clear and crisp about this mornings dawn.

For the briefest of moments the trees, the walls and Sophie's coat turn brilliant orange.

Then, just as quickly as it's arrived, the magical 'burst' of golden light is gone. A small twenty second miracle. Sophie, who seems distinctly unimpressed by the light show, turns to make sure I'm close behind as she trots off .

The PONs can smell that deer have been around. The family diva sprints off, in a slightly bandy legged way, in pursuit of a pre-breakfast drainage ditch snack. The tip of her tail catches the light and for a few seconds longer glows like a wildly waving torch. A year ago she had just been given the all clear on her second knee. Look at her now.

At the end of the ridge Bob and Angus sit on the storm drain and put the world to rights. This morning the previously unknown name Sam Nunberg enters our conversation. Bob watches his sister digging for something malodorous in the donkey field. School has started again. The seven thirty bus goes by. The two tikes can be seen sitting in the back row. They do not look happy. The children recover from their start of school 'funk' long enough to press their faces against the windows and wave at the PONs. The two tikes stick out their tongues.

And here's some Tuesday morning ( very ) French music :

Sophie is the poster girl for advanced knee surgery. The brief early morning golden glow is wonderfully captured here. A moment to treasure.

The photos are beautiful Angus - so rarely do we have a chance to catch that elusive golden light.
I've been watching a fascinating programme on TV called "Supervet", and always think about Sophie when I see the vet hold up a small titanium leg implant.

Our mornings are changing too. The light is slipping away, and the birds are quiet, getting ready for winter. Even though I won't miss the hot nights, I will miss the bright sunny days.

The golden hour sometimes is too short. We had a moment last night. A crack in the charcoal clouds to the west turned the eastern sky orange and made a half-circle rainbow. Only for a minute, then it was gone.
Somehow news of Sophie's breakfast makes me able to delay my own until I've forgotten what she's had.

Quite a contrast to the Scottish photos you've been posting lately. Sam Nunberg is the name on everyone's lips here in the States.

Indeed Sophie is our Golden Girl. And so soon after the awards show. The Oscar goes to Sophie for, “ The Color of Light “, directed by Angus and Bob !!!
