Cloudless.

Out of the gate and down the hill towards the crossroads. Bob runs ahead. Sophie lingers in the long grass by the roadside looking for something to eat. A place of birdsong and cloudless skies. Down by the little stream two of the calves ( still at an age where walking doesn't come naturally ) wander towards us ...

.... then think better of it.

They pick up speed and seek shelter behind an aunt.

The days are getting longer and the heat is building. New life everywhere. June in a French village is a reminder that the world is just brimming full of energy.

The PONs are already of the opinion that yesterday was good but can't hold a candle to today.

It is getting colder and darker here, but only 3 weeks until our shortest day. I thought the cows would be braver, but I guess those pons are scary.

Did Sophie find something to eat in the long grass? A poor ex-creature in an advanced state of putrefaction is surely a prerequisite for a perfect day?

Are those the calf’s born around May 12th? If so, they sure have grown! You can tell I do not have any cows on my street to watch.
