When it comes to the state of Sophie's coat the drizzle rather than the sunshine has won. I tell her she is a vision of unalloyed loveliness. It's good that PONettes don't understand sarcasm.
New additions to the exotic food aisle. Hot Dog relish and Bar-B-Q sauce make it into the supermarket .
I hope they are more popular with the locals than the jars of Fluff and peanut butter which seem glued to the shelves and must now be getting on for three years old . Maybe like fine wine these imports will improve with age. It's a mystery that maintaining uninterrupted supplies of kitchen roll is beyond the shelf stackers but a dozen jars of 'exotic' Bar-B-Q sauce is deemed worthwhile. There might be a market for the stuff in cosmopolitan Paris but not here in deepest France profonde. The wonders of French retailing.
While coming to terms with 'twinges' Angus is ploughing through a book a day. Yesterday it was a book from a Stanford author on Europe in the late 1940's. This proved to be surprisingly well written although 'The Fonts' interest in Albanian domestic politics might not survive a second dinner time conversation.

Experience has taught me that it's well worth paying attention to your book recommendations (however improbable sounding).
Bertie thinks Sophie is looking 'adorable' (said with his best French accent!)
Cheers, Gail.
At the risk of showing my culinary ignorance but what is "Fluff"? Not something I seem to recall seeing stocked on our local supermarket shelves in provincial New Zealand.

anything that lasts three years on the shelves like that ought to be placed under hazard restrictions... Sophie's mini climate is a pawfeckt start to the day! YAM xx
Stubbs is very popular here in Kansas City as are most BBQ sauces. I haven't had Fluff for some time although I grew up on Fluff and peanut butter sandwiches. Hot dog relish is also good. Looks like they are covering the Midwest US market.
No kitchen roll - how odd. Fluff sounds disgusting, all hardly culinary delights and I would be slightly embarrassed to be seen buying such stuff. Might as well just shove sugar in.
Marshmallow fluff is nothing more than a shape shifting form of meringue in a jar consisting predominantly of egg whites and sugar. And as Judi pointed out, it's the base for a "Fluffinutter" sandwich which kids here in the US seem to adore.
Sophie is looking diva level stunning today. Sorry about the ongoing twinges Angus, hopefully they will fade away soon.
The export manager at Fluff is clearly doing a great job.
Marshmallow based products are not at the top of the local French farmers shopping lists.
Am unsure that the similarities between the US midwest and the French southwest include a liking for BBQ sauces.
Stock management at the local supermarket is a most unusual thing. This morning I heard a young mother asking why there had been no oven chips for the last month.
It is unlikely that in our corner of nowhere Fluffnutter sandwiches have been heard of.
Sophie would agree with Berties judgement.
In certain places Sophie's vision of loveliness is surely the latest hair trend amongst humans and dogs alike! Mock not, Angus!
Hope that the twinges will gradually fade and you'll be back to normal very soon.
I must say that I am always very impressed with the lofty level of your conversations and discussions with Sophie. Here it's usually limited to "No, you've just HAD your breakfast", "No! It's not dinner-time yet", "Put that down!" or - the very worst one in any Labrador's vocabulary - "All Gone". Maybe I should try raising the level of our exchanges?
I think Sophie looks charming.
The Naimark book looks interesting. My husband and I just finished Madeleine Albright's "Fascism - A Warning." Quite good, as well as disturbing.
P.S. Just catching up, I particularly like Monday's picture of Sophie not making eye contact with the horses looming above her. I see that Angus has failed to interpose himself between them and the Family Princess.
Sophie, you are looking so beautiful in the photos. We hope the sunshine stays out for you all day and no more rain. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

I had to grin, because for the very first time I bought "Stubbs" barbecue sauce last week for chicken - It's not a high fructose based sauce like so many of the others, and it's similar to a Memphis style, slightly thinner, with a slight vinegar base and a hint of smoke. --Not too bad.
