300 masks
Sophie is harnessed up for our morning excursion to the local bakers. While Angus searches for the car keys she takes the opportunity to catch up with her sleep. Sophie has turned impatience into an art form.
We meet the old mayor. 300 face masks are to be delivered to the village. No date has been given for when they'll arrive. Our little corner of paradise is not a priority when it comes to allocations. The kids will need to wear face masks in class when they go back to school. I'm betting the two tikes are hoping that the masks will arrive sometime next year.... or even better the year after. It also seems that we will be allowed to go shopping up to 60 miles away if we have masks. Quite what the purpose of that is escapes me. It does however mean the Volvo can be taken to Toulouse for its annual service. This will hopefully stop the disembodied voice telling me that a service is due ' Immediately. Contact your garage Now !' every time I turn on the ignition.
In addition it seems the country will be divided into infection hotspots ( red zones ) and low risk areas ( green zones ). Travel between the two will be regulated. Looking at the lane this morning I'm betting we'll be a green zone.
Strange triffid like plants are sprouting on the lawn. Angus carefully cuts around them.
Some of this is amusing. Some of it's over the top. but it beats the DVD of Portlandia that we started to watch last night :

I'd like to see comparisons with Taiwan and South Korea ( and Oz and New Zealand ) but they would be embarrassing :

It would appear that we are "beating the crap" out of the disease: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12328689
NZ seems to have done really well . The government acted quickly. The UK government didn't.
Your triffids are pyramidal orchids. I too am slowly zigzagging round ours with the mower. Hope we are a green area.
But there's no need to worry about the graph, Boris has had a(nother) baby! At least it's one he's prepared to acknowledge...
I'm wondering what grade of grade masks will be required for the general public in France. Medical grade or, as Queen Nicola has been advising, maybe just some sort of the scarf will do? I have a theory that Scotland's First Minister has seen that other female leaders around the world have been commended for their effective coronavirus action and wants to get in on the act...
Cheers, Gail.
The temperatures are rising but the French ( who are great scarf wearers at the best of times ) are out and about swathed in mouth covering pashmina protection. Tres chic !
They are everywhere this year. The rain and mild weather in January and February must have been the ideal trigger for their growth.
Not a peep about masks here, though I see more people wearing them, even in their cars.
The U.S. is really like several countries, with some regions hit hard like Italy and others that are only starting to see the rise in infections. Not over by a long shot.
Figures are good here- but don’t like being quite so dramatic as beating the crap- feels like pride before a fall. However very relieved not to be in the U.K., where my son is isolating himself, working from home, in London. Just wishe he had made it home but both his flights were cancelled. Sigh. Stay safe Angus.
Wondering what language your service warning is in....do you have a choice?
Loved the Zoom meeting on the video.
Angus sets it to English, The Font to Swedish
