What seems like day 200 in lockdown

No deliveries at all. The French Amazon distribution centres have been closed down for a week due to health and safety concerns. The Post lady also seems to have gone AWOL. We saw her a week ago but since then nothing. No post lady means no bills . There is wine coming from Italy and chocolate coming from Bonnat but who knows when they will arrive ? The Italian shipper deals with my requests for updates by ignoring them. The French chocolate company sends me a link to a courier. I click it and voila !!, a blank screen. Even the jaunty e-mails telling me that Hotel so and so waits to welcome me back are fewer this week.

This more relaxed pace of life appeals to Sophie.

We head off down the hill. A brisk wind blowing. Sophie chases lizards. The lizards zig-zag as they run. Sophie only moves in straight lines and in one direction. This is good news for the fast multi-directional lizards and something of a disappointment for Sophie. This doesn't stop my furry companion from singing as she goes. Stealth it must be said  is not a PON trait.

More orchids by the donkey field

And down in the valley four inhabitants watch us hurry by. Sophie has decided that there's no point in walking slowly past the cows. You never know what they might do. The best thing to do is put your head down and double your pace. The cows watch us and ruminate.

So starts a Friday morning in deepest, deepest France profonde.

Wine and chocolate are clearly essential goods!!!
Amazon got mad that it was told to provide hand sanitizer and masks to employees, and that if France said it could deliver only essential goods until it protected workers, then, well, it wouldn't deliver anything at all. I go to extreme lengths to find alternatives to Amazon.
Meanwhile, la Poste--what's the deal? No mail all week. The translations for my naturalization were posted two weeks ago from a village just across Carcassonne, and I still haven't gotten them.

No wine and no chocolate? Now we know there really is a crisis!
The orchid is beautiful. We only see a very limited range of orchid species in NE Scotland, as most prefer a calcareous soil, so my level of knowledge is poor here. It looks like your one could be a lady orchid?
Cheers, Gail.

New Zealand went Hard and Early, so they're thinking of easing restrictions. There is talk--if Oz can keep infection down--a NZ-Oz bubble open so transportation between the two can start up again.

Yes, both countries seem to be getting on top of things. Let's hope it continues. Meanwhile the UK has no t
restrictions in folks arriving by air.

We still get mail, although Amazon is taking longer to send non-essentials. Most of our bills come via email so no escape.

have you ever had wine from Domaine de Quissat? They are outside Bazens, and are Biologique. I've had several vintages of the Cent Pour Cent cuvee, quite a mouthful of 100% merlot, from an importer in Seattle.
