A record of those unimportant little things that are too important to be forgotten.

Swinging hips.
Down to the Holy Well this morning. Sophie charges ahead. The village has been quiet all week but on a Sunday morning it's doubly quiet. The church bells from the surrounding villages the only sound. Prior to the arrival of piped water the Holy Well was where the villagers would go to draw water when the ones in the village were plague ridden or polluted. Plus ca change.
The weather is perfect. Sunny and warm with a hint of a breeze. PONette weather.
On our walk we pass one of the village octogenarians in the garden of her little farmhouse. She's lived here since arriving as a four year old in 1942. The old lady is out in her scarlet dressing gown power washing the tiles on her terrace. She's wearing headphones and is dancing and swinging her hips in a completely carefree way. Thankfully, she's completely oblivious to our presence. She is of an age and primness that would be horrified if she knew she'd been seen cavorting in her night clothes. Her cat sits on a window sill and glares at Sophie who is scouting for something to eat in the grass verges.
Back where the trees thin out we pause and look across the valley. On the far side the farmer has strung up netting over his apple trees to keep the birds away. This afternoon we'll drive down to the valley so Sophie can go minnow fishing in the stream. The minnows will be completely unperturbed.
A leisurely stroll home as the sun rises and the heat starts to gently build. The supermarket 'click and collect' service is working well 7 days a week. 'The Font' goes twice a week. We're not sure what will happen later today as there are rumours that the police have mounted check points at all the motorway toll booths to stop Easter holiday makers from heading off to the coast. This may be a rumour ... or not.
Another plus ca change moment. An old photo showing the heavily sandbagged interior of Notre Dame in 1915 :

If nothing else, the lockdown has brought many folk to the realistion that dawn to dusk telly watching is not that much fun really, and there are much better ways to entertain oneself!!!
Not that this was ever a problem for those at the ROF... YAM xx
I'm envying and enjoying your blue skies - Aberdeen still overcast, and those warm temperatures promised by London-based weather have not yet reached 57ÂșN. Good to read about your octogenarian's moment of abandon. Amid all the dreadful news, I am allowing myself to feel just a little bit hopeful at the news that Keir Starmer (and intelligent grown-up?) convincingly won the Labour leadership contest.
Cheers, Gail.
Sunny but not so warm here this afternoon, after a grey start to the day. Rain forecast for part of this coming week, so we wonder here our sunshine has gone. It seemed to have deserted us at the same time that our lockdown started.
Out for a quick walk with Inca - further than permitted, but not a soul in sight. It's nearly always quiet here but it suddenly seems to be even just that little bit quieter and rather unnerving.
My neighbours often see me in the yard in pjs with the dogs.
A PONETTE day......wonderful.
