Inherited.

Two more weeks of lockdown ahead with the possibility of another two after that. The weather is improving after the weekend storms.  I phone the Old Farmer and offer to cut his lawn which has put on a sudden growth spurt. He thanks me but has decided to let it grow and cut it for hay later in the year. ' I'll get a good price for it ' he adds.

A decidedly 'squiffy' start to Sophie's day. Looks like she has slept on her back - again.

Cue for her to be hoisted onto the grooming table for some TLC and fluffing up.

'The Font' observes that it's almost seven years since Sophie was picked up and brought home from the breeders . The timorous wee puppy has turned into a self confident ( cows and horses excepted ) family diva.

The 'Can't do a thing with it' hair is something she's clearly inherited from her mother.

Have you ever seen a happier face than the groom in this video ? I don't know who these people are but all of humanity is here in the first 3 minutes - late arriving bride, mother in law, the man with his hands in his pockets, the church elder in his dapper red jacket. Something about the unfettered optimism and innocence of this made me smile. Hope for the future in turbulent times. With what's brewing in India I hope they all remain in good health :  https://youtu.be/N42NSToI2NY?t=75

Beauty in strange places. The last paragraph of this letter is borderline elegaic : https://columbiasurgery.org/news/covid-19-update-dr-smith-4120

I had no idea that live-streamed weddings were a thing, but it was nice to watch a few minutes of happy normality. I also wish them all well. I also thank you for Dr. Smith's letter. The strength and courage of the medical community is astonishing, and he found time for poetry as well. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, the government has finally taken decisive action - no lockdown, but they have decided to provide each Japanese household with two cloth masks. I thought it was an April Fool's joke when I first saw the stories last night, but alas . . . I am wondering what sort of bureaucracy and non-social distancing interaction will be required to deliver on that promise. Cherry is feeling better, falling back into all of her old routines, although she does not have her appetite back yet. We will see the vet again next Tuesday, and I am hoping she will be much better by then.

Amid another day of lockdown and the media getting ever gloomier it is great news that Cherry is back home and feeling better. Here's hoping the PONette appetite is soon back to normal - ie voracious.

That's an incredible medical update.
I don't think this is going to be over for a long time, until there's a cure or a vaccine.

With all the hairdressers closed for another two weeks and probably longer I am afraid, that most of us ladies will have Sophies hair-do;).
Lisa in Tokyo, I am glad Cherry is so much better.

As the UK government's 'strategy' for managing coronavirus seems to be unravelling by the hour, a cute puppy photo of Sophie, and good news of our other PON friend Cherry in Tokyo, is most welcome.

So pleased to hear that Cherry is on the mend. Once she has her appetite back you'll know she's better!

We're on week three of lockdown, and with no sign of the ferocity of the virus abating here in Spain, we'll probably have to endure quite a few more weeks.
If I'd had the foresight, I could have bought some paint, and started painting the outside of the house! That would have given me some fresh air, in between the showers.
It's especially uplifting to follow you and Sophie on your daily walkabout. Even if there cows and horses along the way!
Had to smile at the Old Farmer's excuse for letting the grass grow longer - he never misses a trick!

I remember that picture of Sophies Mum and hoped at the time that you might take her too!
I love Sophies avant-garde hair style.
Very much missing a Pon in the house. I amazed that it's already just over a year since Merlins passing.

I think Sophie not only inherited her mother's challenging hair but also her majestic nose. Stunning! Loved the puppy photo and delighted that Miss Cherry is finally home and mending.

Can it be a year already ? Even with other dogs there must be a lack of those 'PON' sounds. Keep safe.

Seven years? What a ride! Love you Sophie!

The nose is something else !

Seems more like a year, max two !

Hopefully by the time the heat builds it will be safe to go out for long early morning walks !

Can't believe it has been seven years. Sophie's mother does have that 'put upon' look.

How can it be SEVEN years? Having fun and time flying comes to mind. Love the bear and the comments underneath.
