Grey but dry. Do I detect that my companion is taking her morning walks a little more slowly than she used to ? I'll put it down to my imagination.
After checking to make sure that all is well with the village we head off into town for a shared pain au raisin before driving to the garden centre. This seems to have given up on selling garden equipment and has morphed into a manic Christmas bazaar. An execrable xylophone version of White Christmas is playing.
We linger, briefly, by the cash desk. A six foot tall rotating fairy in various tones of white and brown is the highlight of this years festive display. This is the sort of thing that could give impressionable toddlers nightmares.
Back at the wee cottage the furniture delivery men have arrived with the small sofa for Angus's office. It goes without saying they have decided to show up while 'The Font' was in the shower. The sofa was supposed to arrive after the decorators had been to put up the wallpaper and paint the window frames but why get hung up on small details ?
After three months the wee cottage is ever so slowly being dragged into the 21st century. Finding tradesmen is still proving to be difficult. The joiner promises to have the bookshelves done by the end of February, the garden room will be started in June and the kitchen looks like it will be underway in May. My belief that the slowdown in the economy would bring all these dates forward has , so far, proven to be misplaced. The Christmas tree and the new Calor Gas bottles are due to arrive at the door later today.

A friend once memorably described retail establishments such as the one featured today as "garden centres for people who don't like gardening". They are surprisingly common!
Sophie looks in contemplative mood today - is she perhaps reflecting on the fact that she's not as sprightly as she once was? Perhaps the cold weather is affecting her, in spite of her genes revelling in chilly mornings.
The Christmas fairy would give me a few sleepless nights - it's hideous. There's such a thing as too many Santa's too! With the current economic crisis in the UK, surely they don't expect to sell everything on display?

18 seems to be a popular name for golf course restaurants; you have one right there in St Andrews (rooftop at Rusacks), head chef Derek Johnstone, winner of the very first Masterchef Professionals.
Last night at 6 pm there was a lot of whizz and bang; out the kithen window I obsered lots of fancy flashes. Research advised that this was the first ever 'low noise' firework display in Dunoon. Just as well that failed or I'd have never known... YAM xx
Skilled trades seem to still be busy
Love your cow painting! Perfect for the locale. And enjoyed trolling through the selection and arrangement of books!!!
The room is beautiful and very welcoming. The chair with striped upholstery is exceptional. Did you have it made? And if so, where.
We are all slowing down a bit , but not every day.
Wonderful zebra couch. :)
