A special place.

The well fed town C-A-T passes us as we walk off to the cathedral for our morning walk. As it draws level it emits a loud hiss. This makes it clear that C-A-T  is not in a mood for small talk. It may also indicate that C-A-T knows we are irredeemable dog folk.

To the Post Office to pick up a parcel. What a surprise ! An exceedingly kind lady in Atlanta ( also a PON owner ) has commissioned a wonderful oil painting of Sophie. The artist has captured the four square  stance of the family diva standing by the gate down to the shore with a storm rolling in behind. The PONettes quite remarkable ' Don't mess with me' look of determination has been caught. In one of  the winter gales that pound our small corner of paradise one side of the gate pier fell down. Sophie was quite happy with this as it meant she could now clamber over the rubble and avoid having to leap over the cattle grid. Getting to the beach was suddenly much easier. Cattle grids in Sophie's view were works of the devil and best avoided. This picture will hang in a special place.

As we live in the country, there are two cattle grids (called stops in New Zealand) down our driveway that I have to walk over to collect the mail and I agree with Sophie that they are the work of the devil. I hate walking over them. BTW having owned cattle over the years, cattle grids and fences do not contain a determined cow if it want to get out.

Nobby doesn't see a problem with cattle grids. You just get your human to carry you over. (Of course it helps if you only weigh 8.5 kg.)
I love the way the artist has captured Sophie's wind blown furs.
Cheers, Gail.

I see the "Do keep up." glare. Darling girl, how touching to know how many love you three. XXX

What a beautiful and thoughtful gift. You will both enjoy searching around your home for the perfect place to hang it.

A special and personal gift to treasure. One that will remind you daily (not that you need it) of what a very precious and much loved girl Sophie was.
I wonder if cats do recognise dog lovers?

The lovely painting captures Sophie so well. Town C-A-T is making it clear that it's also not to be messed with.

What a thoughtful loving gift! We'll love seeing where it takes residence when you move back home. I didn't know about cattle grids, but looking them up reminded me of my Jake and how he absolutely refused to walk across metal storm drains. Joey has the same aversion...even though he can't really see them anymore.

What a beautiful and kind gift! The alcohol consumption article will be perused later, after a dog walk.

The painting of Sophie is lovely and captures the essence of the girl so many of us love. If there's wall space in your new garden room, I could see the piece of art there, with Sophie looking out to the sea.
