Jovial .

Town filling up with teenagers. It's summer school season. The chance for 15 year olds to develop new friends and for parents to enjoy some peace and quiet. A little research shows that summer school costs £6900 for three weeks. https://www.issos.com/  If you choose the Yale option it's suggested you set aside some extra funds to pay for a room fan.

A seven minute drive from the front door to the cottage on the coast. A quick journey but a different world. An owl sits on the gutters and hoots as we turn into the courtyard. The young deer scamper away - they are unused to seeing humans before eight which is when the builders show up. The workmen have headed off on two weeks vacation but a start has been made on putting up the steel beams for the garden room.  We had wanted a glass cube to be built here but the planners weren't keen. Instead we will have a cube half glass and half wall. This, considering the windy ( and rainy ) location, is probably for the best. It also makes the questions of privacy and lighting much easier.

A village Jack Russell arrives to see what's going on. She is more than happy to be picked up and talked to. She finally gets the message that Sophie isn't around and wanders off.

Back in town two rather fine cart horses clip clop loudly past the old church. Summer Sunday mornings are a good time to ride through town and enjoy the sunshine.

Yesterday was a day of weddings galore. At noon a  low key one with everyone in kilts and a local piper. A path has to be cleared for the bride through the throng of tourists who clap and cheer her on.

Then a more jovial one where the groom submits to being photographed in a 'humorous' pose. Something that isn't as easy as it sounds in a kilt.

Finally, a fancy one for Edinburgh folk. They have a piper with a bunnet and a sash.  Edinburgh folk have names like Torcuil.

For the first time ( that we've seen ) there are lots of Chinese wedding couples being photographed around town. The men wear suits with slightly too short trousers that show white socks. The brides are in Julie Andrews Sound of Music outfits. Dirndl heaven.  They all seem very happy. Can this be a new wedding destination ? Goodbye Santorini welcome to the east coast of Scotland ?

JRs are great little dogs - we had four, more a pack than a family, as someone remarked.

Sophie is indeed missed - she's left a very big gap in the daily blog.

Still feeling pangs that dear Sophie has run ahead to the bridge, but I very much enjoy and am delighted you have continued this blog Angus. like many others, it's my first read of the day.

The price for three weeks makes me shudder. That should be a cash-cow for the University. It looks like a great wedding venue.

Great to see a canine vibe here again, even though only temporary. I drool over JRs but it seems to me that they are a bit aloof and not amenable to pets from strangers but I always try. They’ve got important things to do! Your friend here is adorable and I hope she visits you again. There’s a fellow who rides on my bike path with his JR who either runs out ahead (or behind) or rides in his little basket attached to the back. Have fun Angus and Font! Thanks for continuing the blog! Liz in Oregon

During the gap between my last pup and the current, I was glad to be able to give extra love to our neighbor's dogs. To better word it, I was happy that they allowed me to get my "doggy fix".
