Christmas music #5

Work at the golf club continues. A large yellow crane is hoisting slabs of stone from the back of a flatbed into the car park. Angus notes, approvingly, that the stone is the same sandstone used to build the club house 200 years ago. Finding a match can't have been cheap. The signs telling us that the works would be completed by Spring 2023 disappeared some time ago. They haven't been replaced. Maybe they meant Spring 2024 ?

We park outside the cinema and head off to the student cafe. With the end of term approaching the cafe is slowly being reclaimed by locals. It's the ideal spot for dog owners to stop and have a caffeine boost after a long walk on the beach. A large wolfhound sits on the pavement and looks at us in the hope we might have sausage rolls in our pockets.

This weeks choice at the cinema is underwhelming. 'The Font' thinks Saltburn might be interesting but Angus thinks it's the sort of movie that you'd only go to see on a really wet day. The other choices seem targetted on pre-teens.

Goose fat shows up on the shelves of the supermarket. That's a sure sign we're on the home stretch into Christmas. In another seasonal sign the fresh flower section is suddenly inundated with poinsettias. I'm guessing they've over ordered as a  small red forest is blocking the aisle between the window and the fruit counter. Young mothers and early rising retirees have to reverse their trolleys in order to avoid the chaos . Some are better at reversing that others.

What a lovely, gentle, festive song to start the week. Ta. And what the data study doesn't appear to allow for is that people with mood disorder traits may simply be more drawn to cats than other pets, resulting in a prevalence of ownership among that demographic. YAM xx

The Scandinavians can be relied on for proper Christmas music.
I think I read somewhere that Saltburn was a scarier blend of Brideshead Revisited and Downton Abbey. Not sure if that's a recommendation!

Re Yam's comment. Same goes for all those studies that show dog owners are healthier. Surely, very unhealthy people are more hesitant about acquiring a dog.

I loved the singing.
17 studies doesn't seem very rigorous! The best balance is to have cats and dogs - that way you get healthy schizophrenics!
