Music has charms to soothe the savage breast. To soften rocks or bend a knotted oak.

The amorous owls start hooting just after one and finish at four forty. The one on the church roof calls to the one on the ledge outside the bedroom window. He ( or she, my knowledge of owl calls being limited ) hails the one along the lane. So it goes on, all down the valley. Eagle Owl heaven. From time to time the PON duo join in. And some folk think the countryside is quiet !

A mountain storm builds up. The skies suddenly heavy and grey. In the field by the stream the young calves look suspiciously at Bob and Sophie. Two mothers position themselves, protectively, between the PON's and their newly born . We walk by quickly. After their illicit half croissant at the cafe Bob and Sophie bark at a few tractors then repair to the kitchen where they make themselves 'comfortable'. They're tired out after a busy night.

Having woken these last few days to the sound of Aberdeen seagulls, apparently wearing clogs, rustling around on the roof in the early dawn, I am actually quite envious of the amorous owl chorus. Cheers, Gail.

Barking at owls all night must be quite exciting for the angels...no wonder they're tired today.
I've always wondered if different species of animals understand each other, maybe Bob and Sophie were having an interesting three hour discussion with the owls about pilgrims and croissants, and getting a tip or two about fishing in the stream.

Maybe it's the tone of the owl call? I've had dogs bark at owls but never be bothered by lesser chirpings.

Mum is glad you didn't talk about those tres magnifique patisseries!!!!!!!!! She has been on a binge lately and now that out house guest has gone, she is trying to get back on diet!!!!!!!!! bol bol bol

If she gets enuf money from the lawsuit from the eye injury, mum hopes to buy a wheelchair accessible vehicle and bring it over to the UK and the continent. If mum does this, she will bring me over and, seeing that she has never been to the southern part of France, maybe you will get to meet me!!!!! Because I am a service dog, it shouldn't be to hard for me to come over. I want to meet some of my blogville buddies.

I have a lot of owls, too. I enjoy listening to them but at night, my small dogs are in the house so they won't become prey. Good PONs!
