No noise.

No denying that Bob has a slightly lopsided look but the drooling seems to be less pronounced. He's eating well. He's sleeping well. He's full of energy. Sometimes it's best to wait a while before scheduling invasive tests and sedation. Our vet is very wise.

We park on the square in front of the little market towns police station. There is every style of architecture except anything recognizably modern. Bob enjoys this part of town. Lots an lots of metal bollards to christen.

The baker has made some prune brioche. '' Delicious for breakfast '' he informs me. We stick with a baguette and croissants. Bob is rewarded with a little choux pastry.

After breakfast dog and master do a tour of the village. Deer everywhere. Bob is kept on his lead.

The Old Farmer and the Belgian Lady return from their trip to Pont de Millau. They've driven overnight. She has bought some tripe that will be cooked for dinner. Bob displays keen interest in the tripe. Later today The Old Farmer will start work on his Christmas lights. He tells me that the metal pole that holds aloft the star is showing signs of rust. '' Maybe I'll weld it or replace it with bamboo ".

The fleet of big black Mercedes from the chateau head off to the airport . It was a very quiet party. No noise wafted down the hill to disturb the village.

It's not really noticeable that Bob's head is slightly lopsided, or that he has a slight drool. He looks in excellent spirits, so there can't be much wrong with him. It's good that your vet has decided to delay any tests.
Is it next Tuesday that Sophie has her second operation?

Yes, next Tuesday it is. She'll be in the back of the car at 7.15 and on her way to the hospital. An eraly start means she hopefully won't notice the lack of breakfast.

Tripe? I like the Old Farmer more by the day.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
PS from Gail: The 'wait and watch' policy for Bob seems sensible. So pleased that he's generally doing well.

SHE tried to give us tripe once....we just looked at it suspiciously.

Having a slightly lopsided look is common among humans, too. Noticed it myself in the mirror yesterday.
Despite being on the edge of the mountains and having lots of woods around, I have never in my 12 years here seen a deer. I grew up in a U.S. city the size of Toulouse, and we had deer in our yard all the time. Now I live near woods and vineyards and I never see any wild animals but birds. A fox once. I'm glad to hear the deer are plentiful somewhere.

Angus also falls into the increasingly lopsided category.
Two reasons for owning the Volvo the size of a tank 1) the driving antics of the locals ( white lines down the middle of the road always ignored ) and 2) the number of deer that launch themselves in front of you on country lanes ( this holds particularly true at night ). Wild boar although less common also account for a number of accidents every month.

We'd agree with you about tripe. Bob wouldn't.

The boy would be terrified about going to the hospital so we'll wait until the vet advises us to go or the symptoms get worse. Hopefully, they'll just go one day.

Leah would be very interested in the tripe as well.
Our previous paws Mia was on a raw food diet consisting of tripe when she first came to us, I'm afraid the smell in the fridge meant that she had to be weaned off it and on to a dried, less retching inducing food.

Green tripe (not white or bleached) is really good for dogs that have liver issues. It has a horrible smell, but giving it to dogs that need its benefit, is just something dog owners do.

We are seeing a lot of deer around our house. It's a cause for great excitement every single time they're seen. The deer, are totally unphased by being barked at. Kind of how some of them seem to feel when they see a car coming towards them at full speed.

The friendship which has developed between the Old Farmer and the Belgian Lady has to among my favorite village life stories which you've written about. My only regret is that it took them so long to get together.
We are inundated with white tail deer here in the Texas hill country where it is rutting season. One might glance out the window to see a doe running by. It's only a few moments before the stag appears in hot pursuit.

Ha. Good luck with that idea.

It may be that the world has gone lopsided and Bob is just fine.
