High summer.

High summer in the village. Everyone, even the mayor, away on their annual holidays. The village, quiet at the best of times, is quite deserted. During the day three tractors and eight tourist cars pass along the lane in front of The Rickety Old Farmhouse. Bob rushes out of the front door and stands on his stump seat to carefully monitor each passing vehicle.

Today is the day we've been invited over to see The Old Farmers new apartment. In the letter box we find a map and a strict admonition to be there at ten.

There's time for the PONs to enjoy a lengthy walk down the lane to the small stream and waterfall.  By following the wandering contours of the lane our journey takes a full half an hour. Take the ox track, which plunges in a straight line down the ridge, and we can be at the stream in fifteen minutes.

Not that the PONs are bothered one way or the other. They race ahead, reappear to make sure I'm still following, then disappear again. This routine is repeated every three or four minutes.

Walk completed we head off to the cafe for a croissant and a bowl of water. We find a quiet table by the florists. The yellow ceramic gnome is no longer to be seen. It was, as anticipated, sold on Sunday to a local man waiting for his wife to come out of mass.

For the local children a foretaste of winter. The newsagent has packages of textbooks for the coming school term ready for collection.

This is truly compelling . The two loos probably is the winner: https://designyoutrust.com/2019/08/real-estate-agent-posts-25-of-the-worst-home-design-finds-by-her-fellow-agents/

You've really outdone yourself today with the home design link - it's nearly impossible to choose a winner with so many exciting choices! And I am sure I am not the only reader who will have had the immediate reaction that wherever the garden gnome has actually ended up, it truly belongs in that very first yellow bathroom!

Where do you find such amazing videos? Some of those bathrooms are truly frightening, especially the sixth or so picture (palm tree and faux marble). I saw the upside-down door one elsewhere, with the explanation that someone wanted his dog to be able to see out.
Looking forward to your report on The Old Farmer's new digs.

Bertie approves of the upside down door; he thinks it is a considerate idea to allow the family dog a view outside.

Interior Design at it's very worst ! Though no doubt the owners of such startling homes consider them to be inventive, individual and possibly even innovative ! The owner of the two loos probably liked the design of both, and really couldn't choose which one to have.
I too, look forward to your report on your morning with The Old Farmer and his new amour.

I think the bath over the stairs is awesome. The upside down corgi door is fun.

It's a shame the gnome is sold.

good grief... but then I am not surprised. One of my wee hobbies is to puruse the For Sale pages (to keep an eye on the market, ye ken) and it astounds me that so many folk will 'do up' there places with a view to making them appealing, when in fact all they are doing is putting people off (well, me anyway). There's one in the neigbouring stair to me right now on the market which is painted all in black and purple. Freshly done. The price is jacked up because "there's not a thing to be done"... REALLY??? needless to say, eight months on, the place is still not sold. YAM xx

The two loos takes me back to a Spring Tour of Homes. The loos were side by side, in an old train car, that was the add on to the house, for the master bathroom . The owner of the house was our tour guide. It was obvious this room was his pride and joy. When asked if there were any questions, a great silence fell upon our group. Love the first picture of Bob and Sophie. Your visit with the Old Farmer and his new Lady should be most interesting!
