Universal justice.

'The Font' marinades two chicken breasts for lunch and puts them in a bowl on the kitchen counter. The phone rings. 'The Font' returns. The bowl is on the floor and the chicken breasts are nowhere to be seen. Sophie is  trying to appear invisible but her tail is wagging at a ' I've just eaten something wonderful' pace. Bob looks forlorn. When questioned the family princess reverts to her tested '' I cannot tell a lie. It was my brother that did it ' defence.

It remains a miracle of veterinary science that a girl with two artificial back knees can bounce up high enough to reach a bowl placed safely out of the way.

A long walk is in order to help the chicken breasts settle.

Later we head off to the greengrocers. The motorway is usually quiet but this morning  there's a stream of cars in both directions. Parisians heading to the coast and coast dwellers heading to Paris. Busiest day of the year on the roads.

The bakers wife is told about Sophie's antics. This doesn't stop her getting some choux pastry slivers. Bob gets twice as many.  I tell him this is universal justice in action.

Bertie is not sure that double rations of choux pasty slivers balances two marinaded chicken breasts on the scales of universal justice...
