Sophie wanders into the kitchen to remind me that it's time for our morning walk. She stares at her lead. Then she stares at me. This process is repeated until the hint is taken.
Non verbal communication is an important but largely unexplored element of dog ownership.
Sophie has been working on her stealthy stalking skills. We get close to the village pond before she lets out a shriek of excitement. The i-Phone camera (just) manages to catch two surprised Coots moving at high speed.
At the fancy bakers shop a rather limited display.
The young lady behind the counter asks if Angus enjoyed his birthday cake. No mention is made of it being delivered a few days post the event. Some things are best forgotten. While we're chatting the phone rings. CC2 calls to say Dean and DeLuca in Georgetown has finally closed. A treasure trove of unusual wines and jelly beans.
In the florist next to the newsagent a large yellow ceramic gnome appears. The French seem to love gnomic garden statuary. I'm betting It will be sold by lunchtime.

Well done for getting the coots in shot!!!
I like the look of the strawberry pastries on the left - the rest are a bit meh!!
I hate to say it but I actually don't mind the mustard gnome. I like the things in the florists shop, the coffee table is quite nice but I am sure that the op shops will be full of macrame wall hangings in the next couple of years.
I feel we are slowly working towards a fully focussed coot.

Yup, those coots will be caught (in camera) e'er lang. As for the jetpack - who's will become commercial first, the Frenchman's or the Brit's... oh the personal jet race is on! YAM xx
The jet pack looks great fun. The way to travel in the future?
Sophie, you've mastered the silent communication with Angus, now you'll have to learn not to scream when you're stalking !
Yay! You and Sophie achieved the picture long awaited. And, without the need to rescue Sophie from the pond! Sophie’s one shriek made the difference between coot floating or the action picture of coot in flight! Well done! At the top of the picture is a wall with an opening. Is the pond enclosed?
That is the old gate that used to be the way into the Rickety Old Farmhouse garden but hasn't been used since 1914.
Oh, a coot picture! Many thanks. Still not sure I'd recognize one on the street, but much appreciate the ongoing photo effort.
You can have the yellow gnome. I rather like the tripod stool under it.
Sophie needs to extend her 'non-verbal' communication to Coot stalking...
