Passion, melodrama and excitement.

Some folks may think a PONs day is a never ending whirl of shared croissant ends and foraging in the long grass for badger poo.

There is a serious side to it. Take this morning. Turn left out of the gate in readiness for the daily tour of the village and guess what hoves into sight ?

A kindle of no less than E-I-G-H-T  kittens, led by their mother,  walking across the lane as if they owned the place.

There was an almighty PON holler. The cats quickly disappear but this doesn't stop the PONs from racing round in circles for ten full minutes making sure the threat had well and truly gone.

When we finally get underway again we pass some enormous mullens on the roadside verge. They must be all of six feet tall.

So starts a new day in a small village in deepest, deepest France profonde where the cast of characters include two shaggy dogs and an ever expanding variety of village cats.

A rather sweet article and a fitting way to go :

Eight kittens! I totally understand why Bob and Sophie would feel it important to make double sure the coast was clear...
Toodle pip!

Eight kittens...was it a creche? That seems like an extremely large litter. Glad the PONs were on the job. Every morning for a while will be a search for kitty start to the day.

I am appalled at the arrogance of the mother cat leading her eight kittens across the street for all the world to see! Timing is Everything! Such an unexpected display for Bob, Sophie, and Angus. I am also infatuated with the bark on the trees, to the left, coming out your gate!

A fine moment of early morning drama to begin the day! What more could one ask other than hoping The Font might drop a casserole on the kitchen floor? The time we dropped an entire pizza on the floor was certainly one of Millie and Rory's best ever days.

Oh dear - eight kittens ! Are you sure that the mother wasn't perhaps looking after a couple or three for another cat?
If I were Bob and Sophie, I would be very careful that they don't find their way into the ROF. Word of the fine dining at that establishment is surely all around the village by now !

The bark is the bane of our gardening life. As the heat builds the bark peels off bit by bit in foot square patches. By the end of the season all the old bark is off and a new seasons covering starts to develop.

perhaps it was the 1966 film, A Man and a Women, in which Ford Mustangs were the co-stars.
