An eternal verity.

The morning press does its best to make the Impeachment Trial seem exciting but distance adds perspective and everything seems pre-ordained. Sophie takes the view that the center is vanishing. She would talk about Cory Gardner but at this time of the morning has more pressing issues on her mind.

The Old Farmer didn't get as far with his newly acquired trailer as he'd hoped. It sits abandoned in front of his garage. He has returned to the market town twenty miles away and his new lady friend. He may reappear next week. The trailer is unlikely to be stolen.

A near trauma at the cafe. They've run out of croissants. The waitress tells Sophie that she's got to wait two minutes while a new batch comes out of the oven.  The same message is repeated for Angus.

The waitress returns five minutes later with not one but two piping hot croissants. ' They've got burnt ends ' she adds by way of explanation. Sophie has to wait a little longer for her curly ends to cool down. I explain to her that patience is a virtue. She seems unimpressed with this eternal verity preferring the instant gratification approach to life.

Back in the village the three tree stump Christmas reindeer are still in place on the village green. Perhaps they will become a permanent feature ?

Eating my breakfast porridge in Scotland, those French croissants look delectable!

Crunchy croissant ends I am certain are as delicious as the rest of the pastry! Live deer are for all the year, why not these?! YAM xx

That second photo of Sophie is such a "Princess" face. Adorable! The photo of the croissants is making me so hungry. Wish I could pluck them both off the screen and tuck in!

Well, Sophie, I think the center vanished years ago probably after the election of Barack Obama. It's a shame the impeachment vote is likely pre-ordained in spite of the House Democrats presenting a good case.
I, too, like the look of the deer on the village green.

As I sat down to work this morning, I opened your blog (a daily prelude to work) and said "Good Morning, Sophie" to your picture (and the laughed at myself). The French countryside holds a particular place in my life (and now heart), and Sophie's (and the Font's pronouncements), and Angus' wry wit simply make me happy.

Sophie and my Inca Lab. are of one mind. Why wait for something to cool if it can just as easily be eaten piping hot, burnt ends and all!

I totally agree with "Sheila" above - Reports were that Adam Schiff did a good job yesterday, I could only watch the news reports. Unfortunately you are right, we all know what the outcome will be. The GOP has become the "party of Trump." I may need more than 2 croissants with burnt ends to get through all this.

The wind and rain is every bit as strong here although it's a balmy 8 degrees

Crunchy and warm. Could any croissant end be better ?

The family princess is not always adorable - feisty - yes !

Sophie is slowly developing constitutional insight. This is largely based on her dealings with C-A-T-S.

The locals have now got used to the sight of Angus sitting on the storm drain deep in conversation with his canine companion. After ten years all sorts of strange behaviour becomes ordinary.

Hot food and Sophie have to be carefully separated.

Guess there's no point in being a Senator if you can't be re-elected.

Do you eat your croissants plain? I like a bit of jam or a ham and cheese toasted one.
