Keen interest.

Changeable weather. Sunny yesterday. Today, grey skies and scudding clouds. When we're inside it's dry and warm. The second we move outside the weather gremlin turns on the taps and we get soaked.

After our walk down to the stream we head off in the car for the morning croissant. As we get to the cafe the skies open.  Sophie isn't allowed inside so we stand on the patio with the rain dripping down around us.

A coffee, a bowl of water and a croissant fresh from the oven arrive. The waitress gives Sophie an ear scrunch. Sophie is oblivious to this. Her attention is focused on the croissant.  Todays offering is a 9.5/10. It's so good we have a second. Sophie heartily agrees with a day that starts with double curly croissant ends. One of the benefits of being an early rising dog owner is that you get to the bakers just as the first bread of the day is at that moment of warm perfection. The novelty of being able to go out for a morning coffee after three months indoors may also have something to do with it.

The bakers wife has made some salted caramel brownies. We buy two.  It goes without saying that 'The Font' will not be tempted by the thought of a salted caramel brownie.  The icing on the Brownies hasn't quite set yet which means they stick to the paper bag . Sophie eyes up the bag with keen interest.

A couple of months ago I ordered this CD. It arrived today. The postal service is all over the place :

The best part of two 9.5/10 croissants and two (score unknown) salted caramel brownies? I am sorely tempted to adopt the 'Angus Diet' today!

Finally, a croissant that meets your standards as well as Sophie's. I love the cookies that are available with either Oreos or KitKats - very cosmopolitan. We had a similar experience with a book yesterday. Trying to maintain my daughter's interest in Latin through her final semester, I had agreed to buy her a book entitled "How to Insult, Abuse and Insinuate in Classical Latin". We ordered it months ago and had forgotten all about it when it suddenly turned up in the mailbox. Turns out that many Latin insults are quite lengthy and complicated. Later today we are taking Cherry for her one-month check-up at the vet's - hopefully, they will finally agree her post-operative infection is gone for good, but in the meantime, I expect they are going to be shocked by her new hairstyle. It is already starting to grow in bit by bit, thank Heavens.

Some semblance of normality at the ROF brings something of the same to its viewers... YAM xx

Excellent parent psychology on the Latin book ! As for Cherry good luck with the visit and for an all clear. The fur will grow - eventually or at least in time for colder weather .

Angus will go without lunch. Sophie won't.

Wish people would wear face masks. All for normality but it seems as if everyone here seems to think there's no chance of a second wave !

Many people have stopped wearing face masks here too. I wear mine when out in town or in the supermarket etc., but it does prove challenging when in a café eating a croissant and drinking coffee!
A 9.5/10 croissant - two in fact! Inca will be green with envy! Unless I buy one to eat at home, she doesn't even get the curly bits these days!

Oh I agree there - now back in Edinburgh and having had to deal 'externally' yesterday, I was amazed at the lack of mask wearing... and the sniggers at mine. There's some way to go for this to become culturally acceptable, regardless of risk. Yxx
