The 'natural' look.

Another day. Another British Prime Minister. Up here in the north it's dry and breezy this morning. On our start of day walk Sophie disturbs a hare. By the time she's chased it ( ineptly - the hare goes straight on, Sophie goes right ) the wind has picked up and she's developed what can most politely be called a 'natural' look.

While 'The Font' gets ready we head off in the car for a coffee. Seagulls attract the PONettes attention in town.  Seagulls are fun to chase but there is only so much pouncing a girl can do when the prey insists on flying off. At the cafe she gets an oatcake. The waiter takes one look at her and says ' You need a bath '. Angus has to point out that keeping a  long haired sheepdog mud free at this time of the year is a 24/7 task. We agree that Sophie looks ' characterful'.

Back on the coast there is a chance to drink from puddles and search for things that rustle - tantalizingly - in the grass verges. The wind swept look soon gives way to a look that is truly unkempt and which would make a pedigree PON owner lose sleep . Sophie is not bothered. She's happy - mud, water and a stale oatcake. Life is good.

Remarkable hairdo in that first photo. There was a time women paid a lot of money to sakons to get that perfect scrunched look.

Nobby admires Sophie's natural look.
Gail just wrote the exact same four words in her diary as start this blog post. Strikingly, also this morning she heard someone on the radio (a Chairwoman of a local Conservative Association) repeatedly describing our new PM as 'kind'. Not an adjective often applied by anyone to any senior politician. Whether this perception of kindness will survive Sunak's first few months in office (assuming he lasts at least a few months) remains to be seen.

Yes, Sophie really is a vision in that first photo. Did you bring the grooming table with you from France?

Sophie looks like a girl who's had a really good time - that's the most important thing! Bad hair days must be a regular thing now that you're in such a windy climate. It will take some work, and a mountain of treats to remove those tangles!
Are the bookies going to take odds on how many more Prime Ministers pass through no 10 before the next general election?

Dishy Rish! might be feeling a bit like that (totally fake) ball-balancing pig... and soon enough, being dragged through the papers might start to take on the PONette mud/wind/water appearance! YAM xx

It's the little things in life that make a big difference. You and Sophie have a wonderful day!

How insulting a waiter tells a diva she needs a bath, and then gives her a stale oatcake!

Oh it must be REALLY bad for someone who relies on tips as income to insult cleanliness. I had to laugh.
That said Angus, have you seen the dog bathing shower areas that people are building into their homes? I know that you have a reno coming up. They look like a great addition in the "mud room".

We were watching Love It or List It the other day and one of the requirements the homeowner had to either stay in the renovated home or move to a new home was a dog shower. Apparently they are newly trending.
