Christmas song #4

Although it's still dark the lights are on and the door to the bookshop in town is open . They're happy to sell me a copy of ' So Help Me God ' the new Mike Pence book. I'm not sure what to make of this man. I'll reserve my judgement but I'm guessing the book will follow the line that a least one sane person has to be in the room and therefore everything else should be forgiven.

The cinema is extending the run of the Christmas horror movie. The poster doesn't tell us who the cast is. Perhaps this is at the request of the cast ?

Just as we're leaving the cafe a large visitor arrives. Sophie moves so that I'm strategically placed between her and this enormous hound. Sophie is a firm believer in the power of 'prudent' valour.

Exam time. Town is unusually quiet.  All the students head home on December 18th which means we might soon be able to get reservations in our favourite restaurants.

Back out on the coast we have a good half an hours walk in the morning sunshine. The colder and stormier the weather gets the more the PONette loves it. A long, double layer, coat is ideal protection for a Scottish winter.

Now I remember reading somewhere online just after Trump was elected in 2016 that the only reason that Trump would not take a bullet was that the thought of Mike Pence being president was a deterrent. I know it sounds slightly extreme but the tone of the article was Trump was the better alternative of the two. Eight years later, opinions may have changed.

That huge hound looks almost unreal, as though it's a statue! Not surprised Sophie backed off. Indy would immediately try to engage with him/her. She's proving to be an extremely friendly pooch to humans and other animals - even cats. It's often a struggle to pull her away from someone she's taken a fancy to!
Can we see some photos of your wee village, please? I hope it looks more cheerful than gloomy St. Andrews.

It will be interesting to hear your opinion on Pence. He was very much in the background in the White House. Is his time in politics finished?

I hope you will let us hear your reaction to Pence's book - I don't think I could bring myself to read it. The hound is beautiful. It looks like it might be a Weimeraner? Today's Christmas music was also beautiful, kind of unearthly. On the other hand, I think I'll pass on Violent Night, although my daughter will no doubt want to see it. Charlie's going in for a trim tomorrow, but we'll try to leave a little extra for winter.

Lisa - I am reasonably confident that dog is a Great Dane.

Angus - this rendition of Veni Veni was sublime - thank you. YAM xx

It was so kind of you to move to Scotland just for Sophie. I'm sure that was the reason.

I'll pass on Mike Pence, and on the horror movie. Today's Christmas song video (something always to look forward to) was interestingly directed and shot. Cheers, Gail.
