Sophie is still keeping close tabs on me.
She trots out of the house and stands, carefully positioned by the gate, to make sure I don't make a dash for freedom.
As we head off along the track that leads to the sea she turns with an undeniable 'Just when you thought you'd got them trained they wander ' feistiness in her look.
Down on the beach a dead herring attracts her attention. This enables Angus to wander on ahead.
The good weather brings out the students. At the good coffee cafe all the outside seats are already taken. The weather is once again in one of its well behaved wet at night, sunny and dry during the day moods.
Angus wanted to go to this exhibition in the Wallace Collection on Manchester Square but he got the dates wrong :https://www.wallacecollection.org/art/exhibitions-displays/portraits-of-dogs-from-gainsborough-to-hockney/ This, for reasons that may be apparent, is my favourite :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK-N7m12F1A

Gail heard about the Wallace Collection's dog portrait exhibition on the radio yesterday. She suspects it will be very popular but so far has failed to find out if any wire-haired fox terriers are featured. She likes the David Hockney painting in the promo video.
Who can blame Sophie for keeping a close eye on you - you have a habit of disappearing!
The paintings by Rosa Bonheur are incredible - an artist who knows and sympathises with her subjects. Brizo is a favourite but it would be interesting to see the exhibition. As it would be to see dog's portraits in the Wallace Collection - perhaps someone will make a video for us all to share.
There's something very appealing about Hockney's dachshunds, but Bonheur's Brizo is enchanting.
Maybe she wants to go with you the next time?
Travel - Sophie may well want to travel with me but the mere thought of travelling with her makes me want to go and have a glass of Gods amber nectar.

...meanwhile, some of Angus' photos of Mlle Sophie could equal any of those paintings! YAM xx

The paintings in the video by Rosa Bonheur are quite magnificent - an artist who really knows and sympathises with her subjects. Brizo is a favourite, but it would be interesting to see the whole exhibition.
Intermittently I send some of Sophie's photos to my daughter to give her a momentary chuckle. I'll be sending her today's and the story behind it. I am never sure if she is just indulging me but she seems to enjoy my prattling about Sophie, Angus, The Font, Scotland and previously France.
I've always loved Brizo. Naturally, he stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw him. I had his mirror image waiting for me back home. x
Shipping costs more than the catalogue itself, but I couldn't resist having all those amazing portraits at hand.
Your photos ov Sophie this morning rival anything in a museum!
I'd love to see any exhibit of Rosa Bonheur. She was a woman ahead of her time, wearing men's clothes, never marrying and championing gender equality, for herself and her art. What a gift and talent she had.
