Three swans

Sophie starts her Monday morning with a thorough tour of the village. Jack Russells are greeted, the village pig glared at and a number of startled pheasants chased - ineptly. Three swans fly, low, over us. They're the first of many heading North. The sound of their wings makes Sophie look up. Two young deer come face to face with a stone wall for the first time. Their mothers leap over it in a single, graceful, bound. The youngsters take half a dozen increasingly panicked attempts before they manage. I feel like cheering when the smaller of the two finally makes it. One of natures ' look what I can do !' moments.

The beach pretty much deserted. In fact for the first twenty minutes of our walk it is deserted.

We head off to the good coffee cafe. Twenty or so yards down the road three people are standing on the pavement watching a small but steady trickle of water cascade from a second floor bathroom window onto the ground below. An ever  changing group of hotel residents on the other side of the road pop out to see what's going on.  In a small Scottish coastal town you take your excitement where you can find it.

The yellow carnations in the window of the house facing the cinema lasted a full three weeks. This morning they've been replaced by some bright orange roses. The term papers on the table inside the house don't seem to have been touched in a month... or possibly since we arrived.

The cafe that was the centre of the Netflix filming is once again fully open. Power has been restored after the fuse box incident. A freshly painted sign in the window says ' Where Kate met Will ' . It has now had a second ,qualifying, line added to it - ' For Coffee'.

When I see photos of Sophie alone on the beach I sometimes think it looks like the last place on earth - before you fall off the edge! This morning looks somewhat desolate, but early birds are often out alone.
There does seem to be a mystery about that vase and the lovely flower arrangements - I wonder what the story is behind it? Looking back through your similar photos, those papers on the table definitely haven't moved at all since your first one.

I have visions of the bathroom full of water.
Beautiful roses.

Water running out a window is not a good sign. The cafe is for sale. Life is returning to normal.

Here's a thought. For a (maybe retired) academic, term papers are as as much an essential part of a room's furnishings as the flowers in the window, hence the reluctance to move them?
Cheers, Gail.
PS Nobby says well done to the little deer.

I agree with Gail's perception of the window display; the papers seem to be a careful and intentional part of the picture. Yes, bravo to the little deer! How fortunate you were to observe them. One of the joys of being an early riser.

Once again, the image of Sophie on the beach makes me yearn to visit the ocean. A trip is on the horizon in a few more months.

A bright new cafe sign...but I see the chunks of fallen plaster have not been repaired! I wish, on behalf of all of us. you could somehow meet the owners
of the house with the changing flowers and unchanged papers and let them know how interested we are in their well-being! Requires some basic stalking trade craft, right?

I'm happy you were there to witness the little deer's accomplishment! Hopefully the water is just someone changing out the water in an aquarium?

I reckon the orange roses might have been a gift bouquet for Mothers' Day.

Orange roses and I believe red alstroemeria. Lovely visions of the wee triumphant deer! Thank you for the truly special memory.
