Herding cats.

Having been aghast at the thought of a far right  victory the newspapers have done a volte face and are now saying France is ungovernable. At the best of times French politics is akin to herding cats ( in a ' Et maintenant on fait quoi ?' sort of way ) so this is a little unfair.

We go to the V&A in Dundee.

While 'The Font' shops Angus finds himself looking at a long wall which is covered in a display of stuffed toys.

This is presumably targeted at a younger demographic. Toddlers viewing this would be suffering (enjoying ?)  sensory overload.

A quick Google search shows the artist has a company that not only makes these things but also sells them :  https://www.donnawilson.com/products/creatures . Hamish - the Highland Cow - makes me smile.

We quickly detour to the museum cafe. I opt for the salted caramel Brownie. 'The Font' has two tiny nibbles of the Raspberry and Peach Polenta and then pushes the plate across to me with the words ' It will be a shame if it goes to waste '.  It doesn't.

Do black and yellow(s) go together ?

The café is probably the best part of V&A Dundee. The Scottish design gallery is interesting, but apart from that it seems a very large empty space given over to a museum shop. Following post-election news in France with interest!

Today's cake choices perfectly encapsulate the differences in taste between Angus and the Font!
Also following events in France with interest, and concern. (But even more concerned about the Biden situation in the USA. I know from experience with my father that cognitive decline is generally accompanied by some denial and loss of what was hitherto good judgement).

Yellow and black? Think bumble bee, wasp...or various sports strips... Though I'd have liked to have seen more definitive black on the house. YAM xx

Not a fan of the yellow doors or polenta cake.

We have a little house on our property that was probably a child's play house but is large enough for an adult to stand up in. My daughter claimed it as an art studio, and we let her choose the paint scheme. She initially wanted black with yellow trim, but the workmen pointed out how hot that could get so she changed to yellow with black trim. It's like a little bumble bee house - not what I would have chosen, but I've gotten used to it. The article on France was interesting. I also noticed how "the NR lost" was so quickly replaced by "France is ungovernable". There doesn't seem to be much time for reflection in the news cycle any more. I've decided to try and tune out on the US election for at least a couple of days. Right now, it's not clear to me whether what's going on is a robust debate or a circular firing squad.

Some US commentators are deriving great comfort from events in the UK and France, seeing them as examples that we here will right ourselves too. Usually an optimist, I've been swaying back and forth like a pendulum between dread and slivers of hope.
