It rains overnight. The humidity does nothing for Sophie's hair.
The builders have been called away to an 'emergency'. Quite what the 'emergency' might be is left vague. They promise to return by the end of the week. '' Don't you worry M'Ongoose we'll get it finished ".
With no morose lads to 'throw the Furry Fox' , Sophie is left to explore the empty barn and mull over the meaning of life. That done she savages her brother.

Oh dear, the meaning of life includes savaging your brother does it? Poor Bob !
Sophie's not really the contemplative sort, is she?
Must seem very quiet without workmen..
Oh but the day cannot be complete without a game of throw the furry fox surely?
Perhaps Sophie is perplexed over the disappearance of her gravel mountains?
Your barn is a wonderful structure. What year was it built? Do you know? Perhaps Sophie is sniffing for clues...
Sophie: The answer is 42.
The barn is enchanting. I think Sophie is enchanted too.
Life revolves around savaging your brother !

Eerie.
Someone will oblige.
They went up alongside the house in 1720.
