Roasting.

Bob poses for an Easter Saturday photo. His sister is also supposed to be in it but she's staying in  the kitchen with 'The Font' . Meringues are being made to go with lunchtime strawberries. Sophie is glaring at the mixing bowl and willing it to fall to the ground. Photos can wait.

The mayor stops to tell us that he's submitted an insurance claim for the recent burglary. It seems Monsieur Bay and his colleagues in the retired gendarmes association have made no progress in solving the trestle table crime.

Angus and the male PON head off to the local market. Having parked the car we watch the florist and his daughter take down their Christmas lights. This is an example of the better late than never school of decorating.

We are in search of shoulder of lamb for tomorrows lunch. All sorts of wonderful cuts are available. A large rack of lamb attracts our attention but is not what we've been sent out for.  The butcher asks how I'd like the shoulder prepared. This overly technical question has me stumped. I inform him it's going to be roasted. Bob thinks a trip to the butchers ranks way up there on the list of things to do. His tail waves constantly. He gets a small taste of hamburger.

Rhubarb appears in the greengrocers.

Back home Sophie consents to join me for a walk down to the donkey field. The young garagiste hurtles by. He's running late. He beeps and waves.

So starts a Saturday in a small French village where nothing ever happens.

It's a nice look for Bob, between the tongue and the windswept chest hair. We are getting ready for Easter in Tokyo as well. It's definitely not one of our major holidays here, so pulling together an Easter basket takes some preparation and forethought. Luckily we were one of the US military bases for a track meet last week and they had fluorescent purple marshmallow chicks for sale alongside the hamburgers, so we are particularly well-equipped this year.

Fluorescent purple marshmallow chicks. Where would we be without them ?

Sophie has a particularly well developed sense of priorities.

Oh we are jealous of your little quiet spring Easter in your little French village. Here, we are having an autumn day with nights on call at the hospital. Awesome!!

Bertie and Gail both consider a trip to the butchers to buy a joint of lamb to be the ne plus ultra of shopping trips!

Lovely Easter picture of Bob. Sophie could never be accused of not having her priorities straight.

Bob does look particularly handsome in the top photo.
