A canine miracle.

To the vets. Sophie is there for the first appointment of the day. Some ointment prescribed for the sore 'sting' on her paw. Sophie is quite happy to be examined by the vet , who knows her, and a young vet who has just joined the practice. The young vet wears a white coat and is very serious. First day of the first job syndrome. The family divas eyes, mouth, titanium knees and heart are all checked.  While this is going on her tail wags constantly. We all agree that Sophie's relaxed approach to visiting the vet is a canine 'miracle'.  Both vets come out to see the dog ramp in action. Seems we are the only ramp users in this part of France.

Back at home we have a quick 'comfort break'  tour of the village. The two horses wander over to see Sophie as we pass the town hall. Her pace moves from leisurely to determined.

Airbus has just laid off 5,000 workers. Subcontractors are  in the process of shedding two or three times that number. A big hit to the local economy. This morning en route to the cafe by the roundabout we come face to face with two large trucks carrying fuselage parts. We have to pull up onto the kerb to let them pass. Clearly, some aircraft are still being built.

Divine intervention in the form of not one but two croissants. Someone , somewhere, thinks that after her trip to the vets Sophie should get a double helping of curly ends. The waitress explains that a new batch is coming out of the oven and she had two of the old batch left. We might as well finish them off. Sophie is in complete agreement.

The wheat now harvested. Sophie charges across the field to sniff the newly baled hay and chase invisible things. After that it's time for the family diva to have a lengthy nap. Adoring fans , double croissant ends, overly friendly horses and a field full of hay bales. And to think her days barely started. What an exciting world.

Interesting thought of the week : https://gizmodo.com/is-plant-intelligence-just-a-human-fantasy-1844217825

I hope the rest of Sophie's day lives up to the promise of her morning!

Double croissants. Perfect!! You earned them both Miss Sophie.

Can anything match double croissant ends ?

A trip to the vets does indeed warrant an extra curly croissant end !

The airport at Chateauroux, or more precisely, the old American military base at Déol, not far from me, is full to bursting with planes being recycled. A lot of fleets are being broken up, never mind buying new planes.

A great start to the dat with the possible exception of the first appointment at the vets .

9.2/10. There's always room for an improvement - as in a truckload of sausages tipping over outside the gate.

Old large aircraft like 747's and the Air France A380's will be difficult to fill anytime soon although its difficult to get a seat on the sharply reduced once a day service from Toulouse to London .
