Blasted by the heat.

Silent communication. Sophie makes it plain she thinks Angus is taking too long to get the day started. He's been talking to men in dark suits about the European summit which is now into its third day. The frugal four, now joined by the Finns, are still at odds with the unfrugal Spanish and Italians.

Up on top of the ridge the sunflowers have been blasted by the heat. They've only just bloomed but are already beginning to show signs of wilting. The family diva plays hide and seek among the stalks. Why not start your day with a game ?

Starting tomorrow face masks in stores  or public areas will be obligatory. 80% of folks at the cafe wearing them already. The French government did a good job of dealing with the first stage of the infection then they gave the impression everything was under control. Now, with folks leaving the big cities on vacation, the numbers are rising again.

The spring flowers done, the summer flowers fading, early harbingers of autumn starting to appear in the verges.  How can that be possible ? It only seems like a few weeks ago we were celebrating Easter.

Down in the valley the sunflowers are fresher. The shadows here are longer and the sun doesn't have the force it does on the top of the ridge. Sophie strides purposefully along. When Sophie is purposeful she shows it. Quite what her purpose is remains a secret.

Canned cherries on the fruit tarts at the bakers. Horror.

Where couples meet. Don't know who sent me this but it's intriguing . Look at the online dating line :

An e-mail from this hotel urging us to return. It looks very 1970's. Neither of us can remember ever having stayed there which is either strange or worrying or it could have been a long, long time ago:  https://www.laplayahotel.com/

SOPHIE's purposeful walk and stride is positively Westminster worthy! Very impressive. Kudos to SOPHIE! Regards from the Westcoast of Canada.

The confident curl of the tail adds a certain je ne sais quois to Sophie's purposeful walk.

Yes, it's quite a new image of Sophie! I remember looking at La Playa a few years ago when we were driving down from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and it was prohibitively expensive. Seems to be much more reasonable now, which I guess is a sign of the times.

Interesting dating info as I never knew there was online dating dating in the 80s! Instead I met my current partner randomly at a party I went to 34 years ago. Has worked well for us, but not an option on your graph. Angus, did you and the Font meet by one of the ways shown?

Could Sophie's purposeful walk have anything to do with a rumour that there may be sausages in the neighbourhood? Or
C-A-T-S that need sorting out!
There are a great many foreign registered cars here now, and we worry that our town's previous good record of no infections since mid-April, will be blown away with the close proximity and lack of mask wearing by the incomers.

And now I'm craving fruit tarts, but there will be no baking taking place in my kitchen today. Our heat index is expected to hover around 100 degrees (38 celsius) during the daytime and through late Monday...yikes. Much too hot for this Yankee gal and her Dottie dog. Sophie is a beautiful girl and looking quite fit these days which can only mean one thing...more croissants please!

Forget about obligatory wearing of masks here in Texas. The state's major supermarket chain tried to enforce such a mandate from the governor, but the store employees were subjected to such vitriolic rage when politely asking customers to wear one that management just gave up. And that's headquarters management. Of course the daily count of new covid cases continues to soar as people just flaunt orders from authorities.

It seems a shame that the bakers aren't showcasing fresh fruit, berries. Still looks tasty to me.
