Thank you! I wanted to look at the old movies of Tokyo - they are great, and it's funny, but a lot of it hasn't really changed all that much (school trips never change!). I have been very happy to see how the UK has reached out to the people in HK. When I first moved to Tokyo, Hong Kong was my escape whenever the orderliness of Japan became too much. I am very sad to see what is happening now, and I feel responsible as it seems China took advantage of the fact America wasn't paying proper attention. We had a good friend who was a famous Hong Kong antique dealer, from a Shanghai family. His father had managed to live with the Japanese but finally escaped to Hong Kong after the Communists arrived. Fearing the worst, our friend left for Vancouver before the handover occurred. He later decided it was "all clear" and went back. He is gone now, and I am almost glad he didn't live to see this.

My husband also thanks you for the old movies. He is Japanese and grew up in Tokyo but has never seen anything like this.
