Deepest deepest France profonde.

Sophie is up and about and ready for a day of unbridled excitement. She's been on a summer diet and is beginning to look rather 'svelte'.

The stream and the waterfall shrinking with each passing rainless day.  The sunflowers now coming into full bloom. Every one of them hosting  three or four happy bees.

This morning we head off in the car to the fancy cafe by the canal. Sophie carefully observes the owners of some canal boats making breakfast. Grilled sausages !!! Her attempt to be invited on board come to nothing. I try to explain that sitting and barking at people you don't know isn't a good technique. This advice is ignored.

The coffee at the cafe 10/10. The croissant looks the part but is chewy rather than flakey. A surprisingly mundane 6.5/10.

Back in the village a third scarecrow appears. Sophie is as disinterested in this one as she was in the previous two. Is it possible that more scarecrows will arrive.  A fourth or fifth might be borderline psychotic.

It will be difficult to beat this as link of the week : https://twitter.com/benthompson/status/1282606233065648133?cxt=HHwWisCjydnk3cwjAAAA

Bertie thinks grilled sausages would beat a 6.5/10 croissant paws down.
Yesterday, on the way back to Aberdeen I tried out a new cafe at Achnasheen. I foolishly ordered a croissant with my coffee. It was a 1/10, and that's being generous. Given also that the cafe is called The Midge Bite, I fear for its future success...
Cheers, Gail.
PS The link was wonderful.

A bacon bap might have been a wiser choice in Achnasheen. Not much call for fancy foreign food away from the coastal fringes.

I enjoyed all links - though it appears there has been a cull! Dear me, Sophie-cheri, it seems there is a level of cruel and unusual teasing going on, bringing you within reach of such tantalising odours!!! YAM xx

We have had a France Telecom interruption of service moment. I shall try to restore them

Thank you, Yam, I thought I saw more links when I looked quickly at today's post before leaving for a meeting! This one is a treat, however. Also, so many new vistas this week - yesterday the lovely view over the pool, today a canal I don't remember seeing before. And the sunflowers have made a lot of progress in just a few days. No sympathy for Jeff Sessions (I think I saw something about him as well in the earlier version).
