The garden bursting into life. Overnight the daises have appeared. Yesterday there weren't any. This morning there's nothing else.
Comical dog shows up on our morning walk. Comical dog is torn between coming to see us and maintaining a prudent distance.
He tries the dart up and then dart away routine but settles for doing an enthusiastic but uncoordinated dance backwards and forwards along the road. Comical dog has floppy ears of the variety that flop at all the wrong moments.
Sophie is unimpressed. Mightily unimpressed.
So starts another quiet pandemic day watching daises grow and a doolally dog dance in deepest, deepest France profonde.

Oooh violets. My Grandmothers favorite but such an olf fashioned flower and rather overlooked for modern gardens.

CD has something of the Dr Seuss about it... not Mlle Sophie, no no! Given how cooped up we've all been of late, a ride in the ranchlands is worth indulging fantasy in. Including imagining the saddle wear!!! YAM xx

Comical dog is really quite something to see. We passed two enormous Irish wolfhounds on our walk around the neighborhood this afternoon (Charlie was amazed) and I found myself considering whether Comical Dog has any wolfhound in him - difficult to say, but he doesn't have quite the same dignified mien. Zapata Ranch looks like lots of fun. One of the firms I've worked for had an annual retreat in Scottsdale, and a couple of times my family joined me and we spent a week before or after on an Arizona dude ranch. Not quite so fancy, but very far from Tokyo, and riding in the beautiful high desert was an unforgettable experience. We don't seem to pass that way anymore, but we'd all go back in a heartbeat if we could.
We're going to miss the nice weather but glad you get to enjoy it.
I've become quite fond of Buffalo Trace "Eagle Rare 17" during lockdown. Very nice sipping whisky and I should note; the 10 year old is still quite good too and much more affordable. Must try the Sazerac soon. Miss Sophie looks quite unimpressed by CD. I wonder where he lives in the village?
You can make a most wonderful liqueur from the violets if you have enough. It's snowing in Vancouver right now so it's lovely to know that somewhere on this planet flowers are blooming.
At first sight Comical Dog reminds me of a sheep - maybe that's in the gene pool too!
This morning a friend and I enjoyed an alfresco breakfast sitting on the wall beside the sea. Enterprising local cafés on the promenade are taking advantage of being able to open and serve take-away food and coffee. Very pleasant in the sunshine, and this week we've enjoyed temperatures in the 20s - today it's been 24ºC, and for the past week we've had constant 18-19º overnight. We're not fooled as there is sure to be some diabolical weather just round the corner - February is always our worst month.

Alcohol stocks are slowly but surely being drained during this lockdown !
We have only ever been in Vancouver when the weather has been scorchingly hot. The mountains must be very granmd covered in snow .
The annual corporate retreat market must have taken a battering this year but I read an article saying that companies are block booking ' thank you ' trips for their staff.
Violets! Spring is truly on the way. It's chilly and rainy on the Northern California coast, but we have our first daffodil blooming. Comical dog truly is comical. I would say irresistible as well, but Sophie is mostly aloof to other dogs, isn't she?
