Monday starts 'vocally' with the discovery of an intruder in a flower border. When it comes to C-A-T-S Sophie is not an adherent of the 'live and let live' school of philosophy. The Monday morning tour of the village is accomplished at speed and with a sense of purpose bordering on the theatrical.
This sense of purpose is still evident during our start of the morning visit to the bakers for curly croissant ends.... and in the exploration of the shopping centre car park afterwards. Two ducks are chased .... ineptly.
The greengrocer hasn't restocked after the weekend. We've moved Sophie onto carrot slivers as her 'in between meal' rewards. This morning, horror of horrors, there are no carrots to be found. The greengrocer promises to have them back on the shelves tomorrow. I ask him if their absence is something to do with the lack of delivery drivers - a problem that is causing supermarket shelves in the UK to go empty. Nothing that exciting. He simply hasn't got round to ordering them. The two remaining carrots in the fridge are going to have be carefully doled out.

What is the fruit/vegetable that looks like a bullet with fins in the basket with the onions please? Did you buy one?
That's a star fruit. And I think those are mangosteens rather than onions. A very exotic assortment today! Star fruit (and mangosteens) are popular in Asia - the star fruit are very pretty when you slice them and taste like a very mild apple (perhaps - I'm not sure how best to describe). I doubt that Sophie would find a start fruit to be an acceptable substitute for a carrot?
With our neighbourhood C-A-T-S, these days Bertie adopts a 'live and let live' approach until one is close enough for him to detect it. Then it all chanages...
Reports on the radio this morning that here in the UK, HGV drivers are being offered £52k per year plus a thousand pound signing on bonus.
PS Here in Aberdeen, we're still traumatised by this weekend's 'Michael Groove' video...
That's a very exotic selection at the greengrocers, and nothing so mundane as a carrot or an onion (mind you it says what the locals buy - and what they leave behind).
Thank you. I had missed the video of the 'wildy flailing' arms. Having seen it I'm now off for a lie down.
The thought of Sophie ineptly chasing two waddling ducks around a car park made me laugh.
There seems to be a truce between Inca and most of the C-A-T-S we meet these days. Perhaps the years of my saying "NO!" have finally sunk in - or more likely, she's getting too old to bother with the chase! Now that she actually has regular encounters with the family of felines who've taken up residence in her garden, she may be viewing their presence more amenably.
Maybe Sophie struck a deal to run out of carrots, to increase the likelihood of bacon as a snack.

Not onions - those are Mangosteen and the 'bullet' is Starfruit. YAM xx
...oops should've read all the comments before jumping in to reply to Virginia! I'd agree the Starfruit has a very light apple-like taste. Yxx

I've been thinking about upgrading my licence... 8~0 YAM xx
Just about anything serves as an in between meal snack at our house - Carrots and apple slices are a favorite, as was cantaloupe and watermelon this summer.
