The flags on the war memorial are still up. I notice the Old Mayor has replanted the corrugated concrete troughs on the memorial steps with fresh flowers. Could this be a gentle hint to the new mayor ?
Back at The Rickety Old Farmhouse Sophie takes up her guarding position by the front door. Any C-A-T-S that wander by are in for a shock.
There again the gentle snoring sounds emanating from the family diva may indicate that any passing C-A-T-S will be quite safe.

Is there anyone else in the village who is concerned about the flag situation and could have a quiet word with the new mayor? (But perhaps not the role for a foreigner, however well integrated.)
In the first and last photos today, you've perfectly captured the two life speeds of a happy dog - high gear and sleep.
Sophie is a delight! And I needed that. New Zealand has a Covid outbreak, and it's hit South Auckland, where many Polynesian families live, and some people went to a huge church gathering and it's spread. One who has it is a baby not yet 12 months old. How sad. Thanks for lift my spirits
Could the old Mayor have seen the way things are deteriorating and volunteered to do things correctly?
What a splendid place Sophie has found to hide from the C-A-T-S - some of the more adventurous ones are in for a shock if they dare to investigate the front door!
I have a feeling if I got near that door, I would be overwhelmed with sweet dogginess.
I am certain Sophie sleeps with one eye open for intruders. The "guardian" photos are priceless!
