Saturday morning. Another bright start to our day. Near the brow of the hill a dozen grouse burst out of the grass in front of us. After a moments hesitation Sophie gives chase.
A stone wall impedes her progress. She tries to leap over it but those titanium legs provide speed but not bounce.
At this very same moment a hare decides this is the time to head off to safety. Sophie turns through 90 degrees and sets off in pursuit. This is the real McCoy - a head back, ears flying, full on PON howl type of pursuit. When dogs decide to do something they put their heart and soul in it. The only slight negative is that Sophie has headed off down the hill; the hare has gone up the hill in the opposite direction.
Down by the sea wall the PONette finally pauses, turn and looks at me as if to say ' Where do you think you've been ?' She is congratulated and awarded 10/10 for her hunting style. She gets 0/10 for function. Sophie isn't bothered. As all PONs know the style of the journey is what matters, the direction of travel is unimportant.
After that there's a quick walk back to the warmth of the wee cottage. Sophie takes the direct - through every puddle - route. Her fur seems to be growing by an inch a month. Come Christmas she will have turned into a bundle of fluff. There again that's no bad thing in a coastal Scottish winter.

Goodness, that last photo - that's no "puddle" it's a river! I do love Sophie's hunting technique, it's nothing if not enthusiastic! I have been wondering what the Japanese coffee pods tasted like? I think of tea and Japan, definitely not coffee!
I like the thought that no animals are ever harmed when Sophie gives chase - they just have a leisurely work-out in the opposite direction!
You seem to have been blessed with good weather since you returned to Scotland. Where's the snow we always hear about? Here it was 31ยบ on Thursday and a couple of degrees cooler yesterday. Not sure I could withstand a cool climate now - my blood has thinned too much!
We too admire enormously Sophie's style.

Angus may have to install a blow dryer in the vestibule of the cottage to deal with the fuller - thus wetter - winter coat! YAM xx
What joyful moments!
Thanks for the smiles on a Saturday morning.
What an action film you have given us this morning, frame by frame! I especially love the photo of Sophie looking over her shoulder at you.
I don't know if you have ever seen the cartoon "THE JETSONS"
they had a dog ,Astro. I believe they had a little room he went into to have a bath and blow dry...came out sparkling.
It was a futuristic cartoon about how life would be with flying cars and houses in the sky. The dog walked on a treadmill outside for a walk.
Sophie and you need a little room she walks into and out of sparkling, no worries about mud or damp.
I love the enjoyment in her face of the "puddle" in the last photo...probably cooling off from the "chase".
Otto, at age 11 with a bulging disk in his back no longer gives chase. However, yesterday this distinguished gentleman tore through the brush to find a dead animal to consume. Needless to say, his companion was rushing through brush right behind him! He was leashed for the rest of the walk!
