The cafe by the golf club is a sleek modern affair that advertises itself as 'dog friendly'. Sophie and her companion decide to give it a try. At this break of day hour it's empty except for a table of six American girls who appear to have been out all night and who, every so often, burst into peels of unconstrained laughter. They are too busy comparing details of their amorous adventures to notice Sophie. A bowl of water is brought for the diva and a cup of coffee for me. I order a croissant but am told that ' We can't get the kitchen staff so there's no food until the afternoon'. It's bizarre that the economy is slowing rapidly and yet hotels and restaurants can't get enough staff. A small twin pack of digestive biscuits is found behind the bar . This restores Sophie's belief in human nature. Perhaps someone should suggest that a local baker drop off some breakfast rolls every morning ?
Yesterday , Sophie had a muzzle trim. The dried mud in her paw pads was washed clean and the matted hair removed. A start was made on trimming the hair in her ears but after a muzzle trim and a paw cleaning she point blank refused any further attention. Ear trimming was deemed one step to many. Faced with a squirming PONette 'The Font' sensibly decides that 2 out of 3 isn't a bad grooming success rate. There is always another day.

Show me a hospitality business in Scotland that isn't experiencing staff shortages at the moment. Absolutely nothing to do with Brexit, of course...
I can't help looking at all of those wide open spaces around your new home and thinking that your early morning walks are going to be very invigorating by the time winter arrives. I enjoyed watching the very adaptable Norwegian band. It was also fun to watch the shops go by in the background - everything from Sushi Bowl to the Scots Man.

A longtime patient of the office where I work was in yesterday and was telling me that her daughter is attending St. Andrews this year - I couldn't help but think of her when you mentioned the "six American girls." Her Mom says she is loving the entire experience, but says that the weather is taking some getting used to.
The first picture should be sent off to be printed and framed immediately in a nice large size. She would definitely rival Monarch of the Glen on your wall.

It reminds me of the expression "would your dog like my breakfast,sir?" although I have no idea where that came from!
Kim at Golden - What a small world ! The young American ladies seem to be doing their bit for US-Scots relations ! From the snippets I overheard from the far end of the cafe they are certainly enjoying themselves. This insight might better not be shared with your patient.
If the daisies are still blooming, then the weather must, as you say, be practically tropical! It's such a lovely photo of Sophie - worth framing as someone else has suggested.
The band was enjoyable to watch, I don't think they broke step, in spite of all the obstacles along the way.
It's a beautiful October day here - 26ºC and sunny, so I've cleaned all the big windows - a sure sign that there will be "dirty" rain (wet sand straight from the Sahara) within the next 24 hours!
Coppa's g - 100% cert that if you've cleaned the windows the Sahara will dump sand on them in the next day !

Watched the band all the way through. And shared it with our son who is band director at a college in Tennessee. His "troops" never have to move over anything but empty practice fields and football stadiums.
