Everyone is the age of their heart.

The gravel area in front of the house now designated as Sophie's zone.  With her big brother safely penned in the orchard she can sit and soak up the early morning sun without boisterous interruption. An excellent area to dig holes and carefully hide Bob's toys. She uses her nose to push the gravel back into place. The area in front of the house has now developed a pitted, crater like appearance. Her very own lunar landscape.

Late Friday. A 'direct' conversation with the owner of the solar powered swimming pool cover manufacturers. It ends with Angus complimenting the man on taking rudeness and inefficiency to entirely new levels.  To every one's surprise the conversation must have done some good. A repair van arrives , unannounced, on Saturday morning. An unsmiling gentleman sporting a large ' Pirates of the Caribbean ' style earring  gets out, grumbles, grumbles some more, makes a phone call , then glumly announces , '' Your motors gone " . The unsmiling gentleman is prevailed upon to take the burnt out motor away for repair.  Progress ?

Sophie hiding Bob's toys and putting the gravel back really makes me smile. What a dear little rascal!

Hmm, well after some consideration my vote is that it is progress. At least the wheels have been put in motion...although having read your blog for sometime now it probably will be a year or two before the actual pool cover is in motion again!

Nothing gets to the heart of the matter quicker than the Truth! Well done Angus!

Sophie is just making sure Bob has toys to play with when it is his turn to play in the driveway. She's such a mischievous little girl and always thinking ahead.

Sorry Angus, but I'll only believe there's been progress when you have a fully functioning swimming pool cover.
Cheers, Gail.
PS If Bob just shifted a little in photo no.3, and the lamp was turned on, you would have a PON with a very convincing halo.

Halo ! Bob ? Angelic wasn't a word used when he started barking at three in the morning.

I'm not sure progress is the right word. A motor that doesn't work then no motor at all........
If it comes back repaired before summer is over, that will not just be progress but a miracle I think!

Yep progress French style. Have a serene Sunday.

"Sophie's zone"....I love it. Wonder how long it will take Bob to find his buried toys when he is let out again.
Hope your pool cover motor can be repaired, or at least a new one installed by the end of this month. The pool needs to be in use soon.......the heat index is climbing each day.
I'm curious, did the owner apologize for the rudeness that was meted out to you by his employee on the phone? Or did he join the bandwagon with rudeness as well?
Have a great Sunday!!

'Definition of Progress: Forward or onward movement toward a destination'
Well it certainly seems to moving towards some sort of destination... hopefully the positive type.

Sophie's so adorable in her rucked up tee-shirt - could catch on in the high class fashion circles.

Have fun XX

Sophie does seem a little lonely in that first photo--How much longer will she under 'house arrest?'

But I'm agreeing that it could be progress on the pool cover. But I hope you took down his license plate number so you can report him missing if he never returns with your motor.

House arrest ends Thursday. Roll on Thursday !

Angus,
I can't thank you enough for taking me on your journey with Bob and Sophie (the tail wagger and the digger). You are my daily smile or chuckle or roar out loud.

Given that you may not see that motor again for some time, can you use the pool without the cover being removed? Or perhaps that would be like swimming in a sauna.

Oh, I'd have enjoyed listening in on that conversation! Here's hoping that the motor gets fixed!

How long till the stitches come out??
Apple spent the first night out of her crate since her surgery last night. A bit flummoxed as to where to curl up. Finally settled down where she slept before the unfortunate accident and subsequent incarceration. Her final xrays and the hoped-for "all clear" this Wednesday. All in all, much easier than we feared.

The pup got in trouble this afternoon. Somehow she got into a garden blocked by a 2 ft. wire fence, big wood bench and a bench. How did she do it? She had to have leapt off the deck, over a metal plant stake. Access blocked now with a very unsightly galvanized tub lying on its' side. She must be reading your blog when I'm away and be inspired by Sophie.

i could not live in that country. i would wind up in one of the famous french prisons.
i would eventually bean the smug rudeness out of the insufferable parties with a wine bottle!
and i'm not a violent person! truly. it's just that i've never ever heard of such attitudes.
and i want to like them. i really do. do their countrymen get the same kind of service? amazing.
and the pictures of tiny sophie made up for all the human angst!!! adorable little girl! and darling bob!

Next we will see Sophie on the next mission to Moon if she keeps up with her lunar landscaping! I thought the same of Bob when I saw the picture, thought he had a hat on! Sorry to hear about the rudeness...its everywhere nowadays. Shame really.
