Madame Bay's style of cleaning was simple. Rearrange the dust. Waltz with the hoover . Why move a pile of books when you can dust around them ? Settle down with a large cup of coffee and look at the pictures in Country Life. Chat to the dogs.Turn on Radio Nostalgie.
Caroline is very different. She does one room at a time. She washes chair legs. Curtains are hoovered. Kitchen surfaces are completely cleared then polished. She arrives in cargo pants and tee shirt and changes into another set of cargo pants and tee shirt in the laundry room The process is reversed before she goes home. She wears head phones. When these are on the four horsemen of the apocalypse could arrive at the garden gate and not be heard.
Caroline has a habit of saying " You should have seen the dust on top of the mirror. It can't have been cleaned in years ! ". So far we have kept Caroline and Madame Bay apart. The thought of them meeting is a bit like the thought of a firework party in a gunpowder factory. Madame Bays trip to Boston provides at least ten days free from concern that there may be an accidental meeting.

I will confess to taking the Madame Bay approach to house cleaning. Caroline sounds utterly terrifying. Perhaps the chiffon clad one should extend her stay in Boston?
Cheers, Gail.
PS Bertie is hoping that Bob and Sophie can contribute some data to a scientific experiment proposed on his blog today....
Oh dear, what's Caroline going to say when she sees those muddy paws !
Let's hope that if the two ever meet, the topic of cleaning will not come up.
I'm a Caroline cleaner at heart, especially listening to the right kind of music.....I could CLEAN all day.
I think it's wise to keep them apart, it really does have all the makings of a perfect storm.
Why are there two cleaning ladies?
Count me as Madame Bay,,,except for the turban and the chiffon!
Sadly, Madame Bay has retired.
I'm Madame Bay most of the time but then things start to drive me a bit crazy and I will become Caroline every once in a while, and it feels good. I am going to start referring to NY respective cleaning styles as a Caroline day or a Madame Bay day! Does Madame Bay have a first name?
I'd like to sit and drink tea and look at magazines with Madame Bay but If I were to have a cleaning lady I'd want a Caroline.
My not NY. My phone is smarter than me.
I say toss the two together, my money would be on Madame Bay.
I have found out that you can't keep the house spotless with dogs in the house and people don't visit because of the dogs but I rather have the dogs than the people!
Well how dusty is that mirror getting each week? :)
I'd whole heartedly agree. Let's hope they never meet !
I need a Caroline to come and blitz my house!
I miss Mme Bay
