Multi-directional barking.
The first of the Hellebore's comes into bloom.
On our way to the cafe the large white dog on the opticians balcony woofs out a proprietorial greeting. Bob and Sophie have absolutely no idea where the large white dog is. This doesn't stop them from engaging in a protracted bout of multi-directional barking.
The mayor has been sent an ' operators manual ' for the electronic bell ringing system. He, the man in the day-glo yellow jacket and the head of the hunting committee spend the morning studying it. The mayor stops at the gate to tell me that the bells will now ring on the hour from seven in the morning until ten at night. At noon they're programmed to do their 'royal wedding' peel. We shall see.
Bob and Sophie spend an enthusiastic afternoon digging, barking and chasing invisible things. While I repaint the plant troughs , Sophie terrifies non-existent passers by.

Disembodied barks, imaginary people? That's practice for the real thing...
The leaf on the nose. Is that the latest diva look?
I would have thought that Sophie would command Bob's tree stump lookout post when he's not around.
Let's hope that the "royal wedding peel" is really set for 12 noon and not 12 midnight. What with the farmer's lighted star and a midnight peeling of bells passerby may think they are in Vegas.
I think Sophie was giving a running commentary on what was going on outside to keep you entertained while you were working. I hope you didn't ignore her !
The mayor is a busy fellow....perhaps you should run for the office. Still waiting to hear the mayor's resolution between the neighbor and the horse school.

Oh my goodness! Virginia C has raised an alarming possibility! Both the farmers star and peeling bells....at midnight! You'd better read the system manual and check the settings for yourself.
I like the flower white for Christmas.
Love the leaf on the nose!
