Planted and unplanted.

A box of bulbs arrives from Peter Nyssen in Manchester. What Angus plants, Sophie excavates. Alliums a clear favourite. We exchange words. Finally, Angus gives up gardening. So, after much 'encouragement', does Sophie.

Before turning in we stand on the terrace watching the shooting stars. Scores and scores of them. While we scan the skies Bob and Sophie explore the barn. From the noises they make it can be assumed this late night outing meets with their approval. There may have been cats about. They both fall asleep with their tails wagging. ' Bob and Sophie's Midnight Adventure '.

What a wonderful midnight adventure. Bob and Sophie will be thinking you should do it more often...

Our vegie garden this year is a lone tomato plant in a pot. Helping pups being the reason.

Alert: Allium bulbs are all toxic to dogs - who do not have the proper enzymes to digest them. Leading to anemia and complete kidney failure.
And worse. It is not just the allium bulbs of the onion/leek/chive family. It is all of the allium bulbs that are toxic. Please watch Sophie carefully if she ate any of them.

Tulip bulbs are toxic as well.
Perhaps she wouldn't dig them if she didn't see them planted. Midnight bulb planting under the meteor filled sky might just be the thing.

I was thinking the same thing as Kari, Would Sophie find the bulbs if she didn't accompany you as you planted them?? And the toxicity alarms me. too.

Google: look up "allium bulbs are toxic to dogs" as well as "bulbs toxic to dogs" to see the dangers. Kidney failure (which we have been through
several times, losing our beloved dogs) and even death. Nothing to ignore. Sophie's antics may just do her in one of these times. Fingers crossed it never happens.

Scores and scores of shooting stars in the night sky must have been very beautiful.
