Happier.

Sophie seems happier now she's lost that heavy winter coat.

That at least is her owners take on yesterdays 'severe' coat trim and he's sticking to it.

If drinking green water from a zinc bath is any indication of her state of mind then Sophie is not in the slightest bit phased by her 'svelte' look. While she drinks Bob and Angus discuss Brexit, closing the Mexican border and the possible appointment of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

After a trip to the greengrocers for strawberries it's off to the cafe for a croissant. Choux pastry slivers for the angelic duo. There is much tail waving. The girl behind the counter at the cafe comments on Sophie's new look.

The bakers Monday morning display is lacklustre. Tinned mandarin oranges have reappeared.

Loved this article in The New Yorker : https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/04/08/the-day-the-dinosaurs-died

It is nice to see Sophies eyes.

Why isn't the bakers using fresh strawberries? They seem rather lackluster in their presentation lately.

There was a time when tinned Mandarin oranges were quite the culinary rage - especially if incacerated in orange jelly ! Sadly, the flan on display looks as though it has been dropped and hurriedly put back together again.

I'm beginning to think I'd rather be drinking green water from a zinc bath with Sophie than discussing Brexit evermore....
Cheers! Gail.

That was a very interesting article. Obsessed and dedicated researchers are fascinating people. And I must say...that Mandarin flan is beginning to look a bit "fossilized"

We are still waiting for Bernard the Strawberry Man to show up at the market with local berries. I must say that ciflorettes are my favorite variety.
