A topical message.

Sophie has had the fur on her paws cut. It stops her having to nibble at all the seeds and twigs that get caught in between her toes as she hunts in the grass verges.

Having trimmed her paws I consider the rest of her fur. Where to start ? When the mercury hits 25 we'll get it done. Both dog and owner agree that prevarication has its place.

The French teachers husband and son arrive back from London. They were asked for their travel permits when driving off the train. After that nothing. The trip around Paris on the peripherique done in record breaking time.

We see the outgoing mayor on our afternoon walk. He chats standing carefully on the far side of his little car. Further along the lane the German billionaires wife peers out from behind the doors of the new garage that's been built for their motorcycle collection. They had been to their house on the Swiss side of Lake Lugano but there have been a wave of Italian refugees that made them feel uncomfortable. They have retreated here for the duration.

The new mayor delivers a cheerful little missive with a picture of all the recent councillors and the reassuring news that they are all ready to help if called upon. Legally they can't be sworn in because the deputy prefect is self isolating. This means the old mayor is officially still mayor until some time in May. We also see the tikes mother walking their dog. It appears that the lockdown and school closure may be extended to Easter. She does not seem happy.

Angus spends much of the doing the important things. Ordering Burgundy on line and arranging for a simnel cake to be delivered from the UK.  https://megrivers.co.uk/products/simnel-cake

You'll need to adjust the volume but here's the ultimate mega-kool twitter site with a topical and heartfelt message for all dog blog readers and writers. Sophie observes rather caustically that Senator Burr and some of his colleagues are keen proponents of this approach to life: https://twitter.com/communistbops/status/1239302618108907522

Oh, you are right, Soviet Soldiers Dancing was just what I needed today, and I immediately sent it on to my brother, who's just evacuated his daughter out of London. What times we are living in! Today is a national holiday in Japan, the Vernal Equinox, so a good time to take stock. Cherry had her stitches out this morning and the lab results were clean. Cherry says that while Sophie may have a few tangles, it is good she has not suffered the indignity of having her entire belly shaved and painted red.

I'm trying to decide whether or the dancing Soviet Soldiers beat the unforgettable link you once posted of the Russian Police Choir performing Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky'. Well worth a view for anyone who missed it.
Cheers! Gail.

Painted red ! The indignities a PON princess has to suffer !

I'm sure this years Russian May Day celebrations will provide a rich seam of new links !

So glad to hear that all is well with Cherry - you must be so relieved. Just tell her that it's the latest PON fashion!

Thank goodness someone has the right idea of what's important and you've been ordering essentials online. Here the Post office has closed down, so there is no way to get letters or parcels in or out. I presume DHL,UPS and FedEx are still operating, and you will receive your goodies? The lack of a Simnel cake might just be borne, but no wine - unthinkable!

Couriers working but leaving things at the gate rather than at the front door.

Well done, Angus - keeping calm and carrying on!!! Though the Citylink buses continue to run, I have hired a car - I HAVE to get back to Dunoon for the weekend and this was the safest way I could think of (having wiped everything down as I entered, natch...) Oh for the Enterprise's transporter room. YAM xx

Dunoon ! I would recommend a trip to the Swallow Cafe for an ice cream but maybe not at this time of the year. Safe travels.

Senator Burr and his colleagues are going to be laying low I expect. Their refrain, of course, is "I am innocent." A wow factor for me is that Senator Loeffler of Georgia is the wife of the president of the NYSE.

Dunoon is my home town, but you'd never know it the way this year has gone. I've resided exactly 13 days out of the 80 which have passed thus far in my wee Hutch. The Swallow is a bit of an institution here - and yes, the ice cream is worthy! I have four days before having to head back to Edin. Yxx

Understand the foot clipping. Dui has to have his legs partially clipped for the same reason!

On the news here it was shown that with the suggested social distancing, a rail carriage that usually carries about 100 passengers can now carry 11....

I haven't been able to check in the last week or so; it's good to know all is well at the ROF. Sophie is having better luck with grooming than I am; my hair cut appointment (much needed) was "postponed" today as the hairdressers has closed. Lovely to see your peonies blooming again; perhaps the wisteria is not far behind. On a side note, I add my concern and sympathy to Taste of France; such sad news. Hope all goes as well as possible.
