Reassurance

Much warmer today. Yesterdays frigid temperatures thankfully gone. We're up and about while it's still dark to talk to men in dark suits about Ukraine and Omicron and other cheerful things. Sophie has her first tour of the garden while its still dark. Her companion follows her with a torch. Walking around the garden, in the dark, with a torch is another of those things that make the locals every so slightly unsure about the inhabitants of The Rickety Old Farmhouse.

Later, when it's light, we head off along the lane. Sophie is aware of a presence behind her.

The presence is large and makes neighing noises. What is a girl to do ?

A word of reassurance, an ear chook and some curly croissant ends put the day firmly back on the right track.

I liked this Christmas ornament until I saw the price :https://choosingkeeping.com/collections/christmas-2021/products/christmas-ornament-pink-parrot-in-glass-dome

This did not appeal - at any price :https://choosingkeeping.com/collections/christmas-2021/products/christmas-ornament-rat

Advent song #5 . Someone was very tech savvy at the 22:50 mark : https://youtu.be/Ko3n3AJn22o?t=1267

Gail enjoyed today's clever Advent song video, and Bertie thinks the second Christmas ornament simply splendid!

Trying to avoid thinking about all those cheerful things, we are heading off to Kyoto on the bullet train this afternoon, with Charlie in a newly-purchased carry box. It is entirely possible we are out of our minds, but I couldn't resist trying once I realized there is now actually one very cool-looking dog-friendly hotel in Kyoto - this is a very rare thing in Japan, and I feel it is our duty to support them! Packing for Charlie reminded me of packing for the kids when they were little - toys, snacks, pee pads . . .

It's a universal truth that dogs match toddlers in the packing required when they go travelling.

You could always fit Sophie up with one of those head lights that cavers wear! Save you walking after her, although I suspect you have a little black bag in hand?
Poor Sophie - the horse is probably just being friendly and keen to make conversation. I don't think Inca has ever seen a horse, so I wonder what she'd make of one? A neighbour kept her horse in stables below the house and was frequently seen riding around the area, but none of our other Labs seemed phased by the presence of such a huge creature.

Sophie looks so good today. The R-A-T ornament, would be a hit with the C-A-T-S. Not on my tree.

The technology used to make the Advent Carol is amazing.
