Damp

Saturday morning. Our walk by the river sees Sophie stopping in her tracks as two swans paddle by. They go to join three swans further downstream. Sophie stands mesmerized. Completely mesmerized. This is a five swan morning.

A young black labrador rushes over to interrupt her reveries. He is told in no uncertain terms where to go. The young labrador seems surprised by the vehemence of her response..... as am I. Clearly nothing must interrupt swan watching.

At the bakers the normal staff have returned from their skiing holiday. We stand at an outside table, enjoy the view of the car park and share a croissant . I am glad to say these are returning to pre-holiday standards of excellence.

This mornings example is given an 8.2/10.

After a shared croissant and walk by the river the PONettes fur has developed a damp but not sodden 'lived in' look.

This thing was huge. The video was probably designed for 8 year old kids but I enjoyed it :https://youtu.be/neaIrn2xYSM?t=4

So the croissant maker was on holiday? Don't worry Sophie, the damp doesn't do much for any girl's hair.

Foggy here Friday morning, a diva is never to be disturbed when watching the magical white birds. Good to hear standards of quality are returning.

What an interesting story about the Tetris record breaker at Funspot. We live nearby to Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee and I do remember reading a much condensed version of the event in our tiny local newspaper. Whenever we have visiting friends or relatives they always insist on paying a visit to the "Worlds Largest Indoor Arcade" and proudly return with arm loads of tourist trap tchltchkes. On any given day the arcade can be a somewhat sensory overload experience featuring loud game noises, scampering children, laughter, flashing lights and the all pervading aromas of pizza, popcorn, spilled soft drinks and humanity. Its like Las Vegas for kids, or the young at heart. Certainly fun...in small doses. We recently lost the founder Bob Lawton who was in his 90's and much loved by the local community. Apparently, and despite it being closed for a long while during the height of Covid, the business continues to thrive with younger family members at the helm.

The young Labbie has learned a valuable life lesson...never bother a PONette mesmerized while swan watching.
